Carnifex vs Chimera - now completed!

Well over the last few months I have created a bit of a project which I have finally finshed. So rather than burying the finished pics in the previous thread I have put them all here. If you want to see the pprogress and how it was built you can have a look at the nid painting diary 2 and it is all there.

Well here it is Carnifex vs Chimera!

Thoughts, comments feel free to post them.

Awesome! Did you airbrush the scortch marks on the hull?

    Whoa.

The fire... How did you make that!? So realistic!

    Painting on Chimera... so smooth...

    Damn.

Very, very awesome. I think it needs some big black scortches around the fire, though.

    Interesting....

A first glance it seems that the Imperial Guard might be in some sort of quandary, but in reality it's the clever Guardsman who have set up a trap for the hapless Carnifex who will investigate the "wreckage" only to have it explode at just the correct moment, utterly defeating the enemy!

Certainly you can't mean to imply that the Guard might be at the losing end of this scenario...

In all seriousness, this is a great model! I'm a sucker for "clean" painting and you certainly got it nailed. I love the added detail with the dozer blade and the scenery being pushed along.

    Awesome work!

Hey guys thanks for the comments,

The flames are all modelled out of greenstuff. Not that hard to do just take a bit of patience and a toothpick to do it. Simply all you do is place the green stuff on the model where you want the flames, wet the toothpick and then push it in to create a groove. This will create a ridge either side and you just continue from the middle to the edges. Once you have the rugh flames, just fashion them with the toothpick to round and curl them to make them look like flames. It aint that hard but does take a practice or two.

The scorching is all drybrushed, just use a big soft brush and be gentle.

Undeadair...now that is some wishful thinking there!!!! But funny all the same.

Apparently this reminded a mate of a TSoaLR comic strip he saw recently.

Cheers for all the comments, not bad for the first large scale piece like this i have done. Hopefully the next will be as good!!!!

I'm a regular veiwer of TSOALR and yes the carnyfex remineds me of the comic too.

Nice flames, as lots of people have said already. I'm just wondering what made the flames, is it the bio barf? Or is it the chimeras feul tanks burning?

Ok the flames came from the inside of the tank exploding (ie ammo, fuel etc) from the venom cannon hit to the side which is all the acid damage.

Just remember seeing WWII footage of tanks exploding after being destroyed and the flames (and pressure) displacing the turret and coming out.
