Welcome to Librarium Online!
So with summer having finally rolled around, I've decided to start on an Ultramarine Army based on the contents of a Space Marine Battleforce I picked up on eBay last week. Right now I'm just in the early stages; cleaning up mold lines and tentatively gluing parts together. I plan on painting the combat squad first (5 marines) as my test subjects, although I'm pretty much decided on my scheme. Not much else to say now, just going to put up an army list I threw together last night that includes all the parts in the Battleforce plus the mandatory HQ.
So my list...
5 Space Marines
10 Space Marines
5 Assault Marines
2 Plasma Pistols
5 Scout Marines
CCW and Bolt Pistols
Total - 701
Well there you have it. I honestly have no idea how to properly equip the scouts so I left them pretty much how they were. I'm shooting for 750, but I'm unsure at this point what do with the other 50 points. I'm thinking the best way to spend them would be...
Give the Chaplain a Jump Pack, drop the Rhino on the Tactical Squad, add another 5 Marines to the Assault Squad, and finnaly attacth the Chaplain to it.
I've heard this unit is a beast in close combat, so it's going to be my counter-charge unit.
I did some testing for the bases and came up with this:
I'm really liking the urban destruction idea.

def give the chap a jump pack and if you have the points a set of lightning claws will make him into a monster. attaching him to your assault squad will make the squad more potent too.
So I spent today assembling and priming the combat squad. Everything went well with the spraying, and only a few minor problems assembling. I'm not too happy with one of the marine's poses (far right), but I think the other three turned out very well.
Note there's no sergeant as I plan on doing him by himself.
And some pictures...
And After Priming
I was planning on painting them in several pieces; the legs, torso, and head as one, and the other pieces individually by themselves. I'll starting painting tonight...
Nicee , good luck on your painting . . Which part of canada are you from ? i could probably help you out on things if you need any .
So I've spent the last hour or two basecoating the first marine. Looking pretty good to me, but I'm unsure if I got the blue right. Any opionions on it? (apologies for the rather shody pictures, it's hard to get a good shot because I have to lean him up against something).
I'm (hopefully) going to finish him up tomorow, more pics are on the way.
The painting looks good to me... very clean and nice lines.
What color are you using for the basecoat? Regal blue?
@Supraboyyt It's not regal , its UM blue , painted on a black under cout ( yup , i know . . obvious . . ) so thats why it lloks darker .
@Bane , it seems fine , just maybe dust another layer of UM blue to get a strong colour , looks good so far . (Y)
Gold is alright , i prefer only silver metallics on my marines , i only use gold if my characters have to much bling , and need 1 thing to stand out more . Id try base space wolf , then several coats of watered down skull white , 1st company always look badass =)
