Need some advice on which cards to put in a decent blue deck. Bear in mind that i want to include plenty of flying creatures, and can only really get hold of 8th, Mirrodin, Darksteel, Scourge and Legions. I have never built a blue deck before.
counter spell is the only one im sure of from those packs, but if you can get your hands on some older ones be sure to include cloud of faeries snap andplanes walkers mischief

I came, I saw, I got a different type of Leman Russ.

Well lets look what blue is about, counterspells, flying createures, card drawing. and lock down. Wich would you like to focus on more? You said you wanted lots of flying creatures. So i would suggest that you get some card drwaing. Some good cards for this if you can get them are fact or fiction and brain storm and of course inculde for counterspells.

Yes, Brainstorm is key for a Blue deck, or any deck with some Blue in it. As it only costs one, if you get one on the first turn you can set your first couple of turns up nicely.
I also use Accumulated Knowlege. Fact or Fiction works well too.
If you want flying try to find Wonder from judgement searies. As long as it is in your graveyard and you control an island all your creatures gain flying
A mono-blue deck with just cards from 8th, Mirrodin, Darksteel, Scourge and Legions? Thats basically a mono-blue t2 deck, which is suicidal. Seriously, those sets dont provide much for a player using only blue. But if you're going to be stubborn, I have some suggestions:
Complicate (good cycling ability)
Thirst for Knowledge
Annul (good in the current artifact heavy environment)
Broodstar (only if you're going to be running artifacts and artifact land)
I can't stress enough that you shouldn't run monoblue with those sets. At least add white. Then you have access to stuff like Exalted Angel, Eternal Dragon, mass board removal and other extremely powerful cards.

Its not like its going to enter any tornaments with it. Its just for freindly games against friends. I'll take those suggestions and see what i can come up with.
i have a white deck and sum of the cards would fit in nicly to a blue deck!
Good cards for a blue deck?
Fact or Fiction
i have made a good mono blue deck and it worked fine..... not as good as my black deck though
