First off let me give you a review of the kamigawa background:
Then a review of the kamigawa cards:
Then a review of the kamigawa mechanics:
O.k I think we have established that I hate Kamigawa. But my hate goes not without reason you see I think that the last set in magic was Sh*t too because frankly The oddessy/onslaught sets were awsome and possibly one of the best sets wizards ever made with some of the coolest mechanics. None of the Haiku crap in flavour text or Rat samuri with soulshift. I mean come on you abandon Otaria for A world made out of metal and now a friggin feudal japanese set What the hell is wizards smoking? This has all been a part in me slowly losing faith in magic and is why I took up the marvel/DC Vs. card game. I still play magic but only with cards up to scourge set. Anyone who agrees/disagrees with me is free to post and argue with me as long as it is constructive so no posts like
"LOL KAMIGAWAWA IS 1337!!!111 AND MY DAD CAN BEAT YOURS UP REALLY EASSY IF U DISAGRE!!!11"
first off...onslaught was real bad, and oddysey (while i liked it) was way too broken. Mirrodin, while was not even as good as Oddeysey, and so many players bitch about how ravager is the best deck ever (exaggeration). Also, Wizards announced that they would be switching to a new plane every new block after spending, oh, ten years on Dominaria. Frankly, I thought they would leave after Apocalypse, but they bled it dry for Onslaught. True, the best set in the past few years was Invasion block, I think Kamigawa has what it takes to be good too. Not just one or two really broken decks, there are many feesible options. Also, except for a few choice mechanics, i think the new splice into arcane is really cool and is going to be a good eck after the next set comes out. Flip cards are neat, but will mess up the stack (i.e. when their effects go on the stack, who has priority, yadda yadda yadda). While Im not a super huge mega awesome Japanese mythology/culture fanatic (i could care less), I really want Kamigawa to be good.
P.S. I cant believe there are NO ninjas in this set, its just not right...
Nik-Nak's Horde of Goblin Liberation
i hate the new set. period. the worst thing (i think) about it is flip cards.....i hate them with a passion...
I adopted a cute lil' death fetus
from Fetusmart! Hooray fetus! </a>
Not to sound like an ass ir anything, but if you are going to discuss something like this, please dont just post your opinion without any backup information (i.e. why you do not like the flip cards). Just a personal preference so I can succesfully debate a topic
Nik-Nak's Horde of Goblin Liberation
Well, it's all up to what you like, really, Onslaught was a very creature based set, to be honest. What I don't understand is why you like that and not CK, they are much the same.
Have you read the first book to hate the background? The use of language may be awkwardly american in places where it should be awkwardly asian, but it is a good read.
I love the art, the Myojin, and all the lovely new legends! More than you can shake a booster-box at!
I advise you to buy the fat-pack. The card encyclopedia was very helpful, and the cards I got were fantastic.
It's all down to opinion, but I'd rather play this set and every other than not play.
By the by, it also depends on the colours you play, Torment, for example, got a huge boost for black-control, wheras Invasion was better for Spectrum decks.
Champions of Kamigawa doesn't really lean to any one side. Buy the fat-pack, buy a pre-con, and have fun with new cards. Myself, I hate playing with the same old things for too long; I find it fun to play with decks I've never used, for example!
Whatever your opinion, have fun.
