Any white wolf players out there?
*nods* Im a big W:TA fan, and a fan of the old WoD.
Hense the W:TA RP thats on going at the minute =^__^=
I've not had chance to read the new system yet though.
I play Vamp Masquerade, and haven't tried any of the others. We haven't gotten into the new gaming system yet either, still playing the old one.
The old one is nice, because its tried and tested and in the end, I'm happy with it.
The only thing I've heard from the new one is that theres no end of the world thing thats looming over most of the stories, in the new one.
Mind you, having said that, in my campaigns for the old WoD, my end of the world doesn't roll around till 2012 ish.
I've not played Vamp yet, or Hunter or Mage, but I have all the rules.
Apparently the new Werewolf system is crap. I wouldn't know though, haven't played it. Just heard about it. Read a bit of the book.
They have kept much of vampire the same, just jammed all the old clans into new ones. And you have to choose a covenant. I'm playing a new Vampire campaign with some friends at the moment. It's ok, but the quality of it would really depend on how good your storyteller is.
The main difference would be the new World of Darkness system, combining attack and damage rolls into one, the difficulty always being 8, etc. etc. I really prefer the old system, I wish someone would run an old WOD campaign again at my club...
Big White Wolf fan myself. Not actually played too many of the systems but I have a lot of knowledge of most of them.
Personally like a lot of the old WoD stuff but the new stuff is pretty good as well. Just need to get used to the change in background, especially the new Mage. It is really different.
I also like their Dark Ages games and Exalted. Both excellent systems.
Exalted is great as are the Novels....if you've read them, then you'll know who Dace is.
Dace is also the name of my Dog after said character.
whats white wof? are they a chapter of space wolves?
White Wolf is a company that makes RPG's.
Funny that you made this topic today, cause I just came home with a bag full of new White Wolf products that I couldn't buy in Korea.
Anyhow. I have all of the old stuff and damn near all of the new stuff and I'm here to tell you that the new stuff ROXXORS. There's no more annoying "overarching metaplot" to get in the way of your storytelling anymore. If you as the GM say "This is happening in Atlanta", then you won't get some annoying rules lawyer whining "No, that's not what such and such book says is happening".
Instead, they created a game system with new and better rules. Then they cleaned up all of the different oddities in the worlds. For instance: The way they wrote the old Vampire system (Masquerade) it felt really weird to have a group of Vampires from completely different clans all working together. In fact, the books made them out to be so secular that it was pretty much preposterous to have a Ventrue working with a Brujah in all but the most dire circumstances.
The new Vampire rules say "Here's your clan, we're real happy for you, now get your ass over to a covenant and do something with your unlife". Clans don't really mean anything anymore except for determining your attitude in life and some stats. Now all different clans converge into a Covenant of their choice. Your Covenenant is your life, not your clan.
Werewolf did the same thing. They made it very clear that no matter what Tribe you are born into, you will put that crap aside for the good of the pack. In the old Werewolf system you had a pack of Werewolves all from different tribes and they were so different that they spent the whole game arguing about stupid things instead of playing the game.
In the new Werewolf your Tribe is only sort of saying "Hey, this is my outlook on life" instead of saying "I'm a wendigo and all Silver Fangs are bastards that must be put in their place".
Well, that's just my two cents on the new White Wolf products. I think they are a billion times better than the old system and I've pretty much buried all of my older books in favor of the newer, more flexible system.
