regiments declare at the beginning of turn that they are forming a shieldwall creating a near impenetrable defense against close combat and most likely shooting but this applies only to the first rank . If declared the the movement of the regiment is -1....there is a +1 armor save to the first rank. Of course this only applies to infantry units that are not skirmishers, have to be on foot, and of course posess shields...this would make sense for idk....marauders of chaos or dwarf warriors....saxons had shieldwalls and ive heard dwarf thanes say shieldwall. I actually think this is a good in house rule...but idk tell me what you think with a yay or nay
I have often thought that spear regiments should be allowed the front rank to fight with hand weapon and shield (+1ASv) while rank 2 (and 3 for elves) use their spears.........
Just some thoughts.
yeah that would make sense....i think that would work as a inhouse rule...
