Okay, folks, for those who don't know, we've decided on LO chat that it might be rather fun to write an unofficial codex that features the members of the Forum. This codex is entirely made for fun and isn't meant to be used in a Tournament setting.

After all, how much fun would it be to use the Awesome 4some of LO chat in an army? Or use Phobos to pwn the Noobs of the Imperial Guard.

This thread will be used for tweaking existing units and fixing problem spots. Please use the other thread for submitting ideas.

CODEX: LIBRARIUM ONLINE 40k

This is an unofficial codex as written so far by me, and is in no way endorsed by Games Workshop. All related terms are copyright material of Games Workshop.


Army Special Rules:
The majority of the army will be subject to the following rules.

Unique:
All named characters are considered Unique and are limited to one per force. No two Karmoon's in one army.

Character Units:
All units comprised of unique characters function as normal squads in all regards according to the Warhammer 40k Rulebook, unless otherwise specified.

Specialised Units: (WIP)
Member Squads chosen from the Troops section of the army list may opt to specialise their squad, representing the nature of members who play similar armies to band together. This is completely optional.

Each specialisation will afford the Members squad certain benefits. In order to maintain balance, minor detriments will also be implemented. Specialisation may also change the weapon options available to the squad, and may also change the squad leaders weapon options.

Specialisations: (WIP, please submit further ideas in the idea thread)

Space Marines specialisation (50pts): All squad members gain +1 Armour Save and Leadership. Squad size changes to 5-10. Up to Five members may swap their basic weaponry for a Bolter equivalent for no additional cost.

The squad may take one of the following weapons:
-Flamer 5pts
-or if the squad numbers 8 or more; Meltagun 10pts or Plasma Gun 15pts

The squad leader may purchase a Power Sword for 10pts or a Powerfist for 15pts

Chaos Space Marines specialisation: (60pts): All squad members gain +1 Armour Save and Leadership. Squad size changes to 5-10. All members may swap their basic weaponry for Bolt Pistol and Close Combat Weapon equivalents.

The squad may take one of the following weapons:
-Flamer 5pts
-or if the squad numbers 8 or more; Meltagun 10pts or Plasma Gun 15pts

The squad leader may purchase a Power Sword for 10pts or a Powerfist for 15pts

Tyranid Specialisation:

Tyranids: (member cost is reduced to 6)
Squad size: 8-32

Tyranid members may take upgrades from the following lists. Costs are shown per member. All members must take the same upgrades. Only one weapons may be taken.

Upgrades:
Toxin sacs: +3
Enhanced Senses: +3
Fleet of foot: +4
Adrenal Gland (either WS or I): +1

Weapons:
Spine Fists: +1
Scything Talons +1
Devourer: +3
Rending Claws: +6

Special Rules:

The senior member in the squad counts as a special character that cannot leave his squad. As long as he's in it, they take leadership tests at 8. If he dies, it's down to 5.

Tau Specialisation:

+2 points per model: -1 ws, -1 Init, +1 Ld, basic weapon becomes str5 AP 6 range 24" type rapid fire.
may purchase carapace armour at +20 pts for the squad

Special rules:
Suppressive fire: In any of their own shooting phases the squad (all not some) may use suppressive fire mode
-Weapons count as Str 5 AP - range 30 assault 1
-no models are removed from firing in this mode, but no saves are taken either. instead for each wound caused a -1 penalty is inflicted on the enemy squads leadership. This effect lasts until the end of the turn.
-any squad assaulting an enemy squad fired upon in this way counts as having frag grenades.

SPECIAL RULES/ABILITIES:

All:

All Admins come equipped with Frag Grenades.

Site Leaders:
As Admins, they often have direct contact with the Higher Members. As long as one admin is on the board, all Moderators and Supervisors will use the Admin's Ld for Morale and Pinning Tests.

Ban:All Admins and Supervisor have the ability to remove problematic people from the forums. As such, Admins and Supervisors can choose to re-roll failed to hit OR failed to wound rolls once per game. This benefit is passed along to other squad members.

Admin Badge:
This symbol instills fear into the hearts of flamers and trolls. The Admin Badge grants a 3+ Armour save OR a 5+ Invulnerable save. The Admin Badge also makes the admins immune to Instant Death.

Forum Moderators:
As Moderators, the squad has access to forums that all other members do not. In game terms, the squad may Infiltrate when the mission allows it. If the squad is unable or chooses not to infiltrate may make a Scout move as per the WH40k rulebook.

Blackhat:

Forum Owner:
As the owner of Librarium Online, Blackhat oftentimes will try to change the forum on the code level. Whether this change is helpful or harmful is often left up to chance. At the beginning of the player's turn, Blackhat must take a Leadership test. If he passes, the game continues as normal. If Blackhat fails, the rest of the squads on the table must take a Leadership with a -3 modifier. If they fail, they may not act during the following turn (unless involved in an ongoing combat).

Blackhat is equipped with a power weapon and Bolt Pistol equivalent,

Caluin:

Monstrous Creature: As per the WH40k rulebook.

Seperate Heads:
As a Hydra, each of Caluin's heads have a mind of thier own. In game terms, this allows Caluin to attack up to two seperate units at a time. Allocate the attacks as if involved in a multiple combat.

STFU Flames:
Once per turn, Caluin may combine heads to breathe hot flames. It is fired like a Flamer Template weapon with a Strength of 5 and AP Value of 3. If Caluin opts to fire in this way, he may not seperate his attacks in the subsequent assault phase.

Caluin is armed with Claws and Teeth, which count as one Close combat weapon

Grephaun:

Fluff Mistress:
Grephaun is well known for her superior fluff knowledge of the 40k universe. All 40k related units within 24" of her gain +1 Attack.

Feather Attack:
Grephaun may use her feathers as a ranged attack. It counts as an 24" Assault 6 weapon at S3 AP5.

Special rules:
-Phobos the young
Action first- Phobos the young prefers to act first, think later; this gives him the following abilities and disadvantages:
1. Phobos and any squad he joins gain a 12" charge but must always end their movement closer to the enemy, though this does not mean they must go after the closes enemy.
2. Phobos will always hit enemies on nothing worse than a +2, however any rolls of one will hit the members of his own squad if he has joined one
3. Phobos is fearless, this ability does not apply to any squad he joins.

Sword of the mods- Whether they like it or not, Phobos is one of the deadliest weapons of the moderators. This title gives Phobos the following bonus's: +2 to weapon skill, -3 to ballistic skill, +1 to strength, -2 initiative, +3 attacks, -3 leadership (all have been included in his profile)

Mod- Phobos is a moderator, and as such his save is invulnerable.

The ban hammer- Unlike some of the mods of LO, Phobos has always had access to the ban hammer. Once per game he may wield it, every wound he causes with the ban hammer causes D6 wounds instead. The ban hammer is a power weapon.

-Phobos the wise
Thought and then action- over the years Phobos has focused more on thinking before acting, for the most part anyway; this gives him the following abilities and disadvantages:
1. Phobos and any squad he joins may either be allowed to freely move 6" in the assault phase, but always having to end up at least one inch closer to the enemy, or make use of a 12" charge, but does not have to end movements closer to the enemy. (Note this is chosen before the game begins, only one of the two may ever be used during the game.)
2. Any squad Phobos joins gains either furious charge or feel no pain.
3. Phobos is fearless, this ability is not conferred to any squad he joins. If his squad loses combat than he will instantly break off from them and remain in combat, allowing his squad to flee safely while he keeps the enemy busy.

Mod- Phobos is a moderator, and as such his save is invulnerable.

Weapon: Mod weapon and bolt pistol equivalent

Mod weapon- All moderators have a mod weapon that fits their style and personality. For Phobos this has often taken the form of a spiked mod stick, which gives him D3 additional attacks and the rending ability on the turn he and any squad he is in charges.

Weapons: Daemonic Mod Scythe of Doom; Mod-Charged Kai Gun

Mod Scythe of Doom: Most ancient and revered of all the mod weapons, the mod scythe of doom is one of a kind in that it is the only mod weapon to take the form of a scythe. (Others may have attempted to imitate it but there is only one mod-scythe.) The Mod Scythe of Doom may be used in one of two ways during combat, it may either be used as a normal weapon, where BorninDarkness uses both blade and shaft to fight; if this mode is chosen than the scythe gives BorninDarkness an additional two attacks (already included in profile.) However, BorninDarkness may also choose to swing the scythe in a large arc to clear any enemies that may be nearby. If this mode is chosen than BorninDarkness may make D6 attacks that ignore all saves both normal and invulnerable. (This D6 replaces BorninDarkness's attack profile for that round of combat.)


Mod-Charged Kai Gun:
One of the original weapons of the moderators, enhanced by a mods own power, each one is different in affect and ability. For BorninDarkness, his Kai gun still retains most of its modly enhanced power and has the following profile: range 36”, strength 5, ap 4, assault 3.

Special rules:
Ancient: BorninDarkness has been around LO forever, some believing that he was the second to join LO after Blackhat himself. Whether this is true or not is known only to BorninDarkness and BorninDarkness alone. This time has allowed him to master various abilities in which he may make use of, but time is never kind, and there is no telling just how much of his own skills he will be able to use in any one battle. At the beginning of the game roll a D3 for each of the following: WS, BS, S, T, and A. Note that even if BorninDarkness gets a 6 for his toughness value, and weapon with strength ten that wounds him will kill him. These new stats count as BorninDarkness's starting statline once the game begins.

Death incarnate/cloak of the reaper: At one point in time, BorninDarkness was one of the moderators of LO until he was forced to give up the posisition due to being to scary. Rather than make him a normal member, BorninDarkness was allowed to keep his mod weapon and was given the cloak of the reaper. The cloak of the reaper gives BorninDarkness the mod ability and increases his save from +4 to +3, in addition he is immune to instant death except from weapons whose strength is ten.

Winged: BorninDarkness has a pair of powerful winged limbs that allow him to move as jump infantry.


Independent character: BorninDarkness has the independent character special rule, he cannot or will not join any other squads; why is a mystery to all.

If BorninDarknessis made an HQ choice then he cannot be the leader of the army; he just won't allow anyone that is not a member of the LO staff lead the members to battle.

...Deathwing: As a member of the most feared company of Space Marines, Adrian MalSeraph has thousands of years of tactical knowledge ingrained into his being. This allows all Space Marine Specialised Member Squads to redeploy up to 6" after all deployment is finished.

Adrian MalSeraph is armed with a Bolt Pistol, Power Weapon, and Storm Bolter.

<E!_Mance>
...Uniqe Tactics: <E!_Mance> and his Immortal Vanguard Chapter are well renowned for unorthodox tactics and strategies in battle. All Space Marine Specialised Member Squads within 12" of the Veterans Squad gains True Grit and Counter Attack.

He is armed with a Powerfist and a unique combi-weapon consisting of a meltagun and plasma gun. Both may fire any number of times, but only one may fire per shooting phase.

Katie Drake:
...Flesh Tearer: Being a member of a blood thirsty crazed chapter, Katie Drake leads very brutal assaults. Katie Drake's attacks have rending, and gives the Veterans Squad Furious Charge.

...Female Space Marine: This fluff twist is tantamount to heresy in some people's eyes. If the Space Marines Veteran Squad is chosen, the Fluff Masters Squad cannot be chosen.

ALL:

All Space Marine Veterans are armed with Frag and Krak Grenades.

Moderator Badge: Katie Drake's Moderator Badge gives her and the Space Marine Veterans a 6+ Invulnerable save.

Squad: As many writers as you can round up, they seem pretty scarce.

Equipment: Crumpled Up Ideas (Bolt Pistol), Pencil (Close Combat Weapon), Plot Device (Frag Grenade), Coincidence (Krak Grenades), Heights of Inspiration (Wings)

Options: Any number of Writers may upgrade to Published Writers. While not necessarily more skilled (or even as skilled) as their peers, they tend to have more experience getting flamed for their ideas (which may or may not be good), so have more combat experience (+1 Attack).

The Published may exchange his/her Pencil for a Pen (how brave, counts as a power weapon) for +10 points, a Red Pen (oooh, corrections, counts as a Lightning Claw) for +25 points, a Marker (Powerfist) for +25 points, or a Highlighter (Bright! counts as a Pair of Lightning Claws) for +30 points.

Any model may exchange his Crumpled Up Ideas for a Wastebasket Full of Crumpled Up Ideas for +10 points (counts as Plasma Pistol). In addition, any model may take a Pile of BL Books (Plasma Gun, may not be fluff-true, may thus burn user) for +10 points, Fanfic (Meltagun, highly volatile but not as dangerous to user) for +10 points, or a Codex (good source but not overwhelmingly original, flamer) for +6 points.

The whole squad may take Deus Ex Machinas (Meltabombs) for +4 points a model.

Special Rules:

Let Your Imaginations Soar!: Writers count as having a Jump Pack, and may Deep Strike if the mission allows it. They can't JSJ though. That's trash.

And They Shall Know No Fear: Writers are used to forging new paths and trying out new ideas. They can't be scared.

Hell Hath No Fury Like a Writer Scorned: Roll a D6 when the writers charge. On a 6, the unit gains D6 Attacks on the charge instead of the normal +1 and Furious Charge due to the enemy giving their work a bull**** review. This roll is improved by one for every Published in the squad, as their stuff is more widely distributed. A roll of one always fails.

HEAVY SUPPORT

Rules:

Un-killable: The clan has survived many times when it should have flopped over on it's side, but for some reason, the clan keeps on chugging along. To represent this, as long as there are at least six members surviving in the squad, every member benefits from the "We'll Be Back" special rule.

Overly-Excitable: Due to the very short attention span of the clan's members, they are prone to sudden bursts of extreme purchasing and converting whenever they see something new and shiny. To show this, when the unit comes within 12'' of an opponent squad during it's movement phase that is cool and shiny, (to determine this, ask somebody not playing) it must immediately charge 2D6 towards the unit. If it reaches assault, they gain the Furious Charge universal rule to represent them randomly flailing with their limbs in excitement.

Doing things differently: Cannot be fielded in any army considered "vanilla" and/or "boring" (ask the same person you've already asked to help you determine this)

Confusion
Any enemy unit wishing to shoot at or charge the Shadowy Flamers must first make a Ld-test, whether they are fearless or not, in order to actually understand what their intended target is. If they fail they start to argue among themselves and are treated as pinned for the remaining of this and their next turn.

Special Rules:

Unkillable: Although realtively unthreatning and innocent in nature, polls have a tendency to come back from the dead and can keep going after even most gruesome damages. At the beginning of their owner's turn roll a dice. On a 5+, they are healed of any damage that was dealt last turn that resulted from a glancing or penetrating hit, even vehicle destroyed. Ordanance hits strike with the power of a mod lock, so any damage dealt through this cannot be healed.

I think Blackhat is underpowered. He should be the only model with ld 10 for a start, and he also seems to have the worst stats and his special rules can only result in a detrimental effect...

Erm, why? Just because he owns the site doesn't make him an incredible leader. If you want a leader figure, look no further than Caluin.

Reever, Mance: What I could use is some nifty Fast Attack and Heavy Support stuff. Themed stuff, ya know. Follow some of the examples here, and see what you come up with. Oh, we could also use a second troops choice.

Example: Phobos/BorninDarkness driving his banned flamers to war squad.
