Sorry if this has been mentioned before. I'm an idiot, yes, but please listen to me.
I had this new idea, which, if you'd have bothered to read the topic title, you'd know what it is. In more detail, basically, in close combat, if your model had a close combat weapon that is either (virtually) the same (such as a (basic) sword and a metal staff like thingy), or superior (like a power sword and a basic sword), then you could trade one attack for a block.
This would help to remove what may seem like the stupidity of CC, where a person is stabbed with a sword, and if they survive, they stab back, and so-on and so-forth. However, it doesn't always work. Your model must have a fairly decent WS, well, compared with the enemies, anyway, to even stand a chance at it. And even then, you have to take a hard check to suceed. I've made a small idea of the table, which is basically the 'to hit' chart in the assault section, with the successful result indicating a block, not a hit.
Any (constructive) criticism is welcomed. Please...
Well in the v2 of the warhammer rules, models with a sword could indeed parry (block).
However it's clear that v3 of the rules are trying to make the game a lot faster, the number of rules, weapons and just generally a lot of detail has been lost.
Personally i enjoy the new rules but not as much as the old ones, especially regarding tanks. The realism has been sacrificed to make it simpler, which it certainly is now. I doubt they'll put parrying back into the game, since then they'd have to have weapon characteristics for axes, swords, staffs etc...
It's just not part of the rules anymore, what else can i say.
There is some models that can do that as a special rule, and you PAY for that...
there is a reson for it, and i says some were in WFB or 40k rulebook, that the WS vs WS misses could also be blocks.. I mean it would be hard to doge an attack in a crisses or terminator armour! <_<
