I made this character years ago to have some fun with when I played my friend's Tyranids. So I decided to update him a little further and see how it plays out. It provided a lot of fun against him and I don't want to change that too much. This is just used for fun and friendly games against my friend's nids. Nothing competative.
Veteran Sergeant Limpy: The Crazy One…………………………….95 points
4 4 4 4 2 4 2 9 3+
One Tactical Squad may be replace their sergeant with Sergeant Limpy
Unit Type: Infantry
Wargear: Power Armour, Blessed Bionics, Promethium Grenades, Smack Daddy, Flamer
Special Rules: And they shall know no fear, Combat Tactics, It’s Just a Bug, Pyro, Half the Man he used to be, STOP THROWING OUR AMMO!!!, You Have A Ripper Infestation
It’s Just a Bug: Limpy has spent many decades fighting numerous Tyranid attacks. He counts as having the Preferred Enemy Skill: Tyranids.
Pyro: Limpy’s mission to the emperor is helping to ward off and destroying the Tyranid invasion on imperial worlds. Therefore he never goes to battle against the Tyranid menace without first bringing a few extra promethium cartridges for his combi-flamer. To represent this Limpy may fire his flamer with no penalty every turn. At any time he may expend all of the promethium in his flamer. When doing so this counts as a heavy flamer and cannot fire his flamer in the following shooting phase as he must replace the cartridge.
Half the Man He used to be: After being half eaten…alive…by a Ripper Swarm, his right arm, right leg, and much of his right torso (that’ll ruin your day) have been replaced by bionics. Because of this Limpy is considered to have the Feel No Pain ability. His squad does not maintain this ability.
Smack Daddy: Limpy’s bionic arm is fitted with a massive sentinel close combat weapon. This massive buzz saw is used “skillfully” to hack off scythes, limbs, dismember the occasional head, and can effectively take down the largest that the Tyranids have to offer. This weapon counts as rending and grants +1S.
STOP THROWING OUR AMMO!!!: Limpy, a lot of time uses his extra Promethium tanks as grenades...just in case things get out of hand. Once per game he can throw a Promethium Grenade at the enemy up to 12” away. Using a large blast marker, place it over a single enemy model. Additionally place a small blast marker over the large black marker, using the small model at the center. Any models touched by the small blast marker count as getting hit with a S6 AP4 blast. Any remaining models (not including those hit by the small blast) get hit with a S3 AP6 blast. This one shot grenade counts as a flame weapon, negating cover saves and causing double wounds to any swarms. All normal blast weapon rules apply.
You Have a Ripper Infestation: Limpy is bent on destroying the ripper menace. At any point during the game if he comes into line of sight of a Ripper swarm, he must take a leadership test at -3 to his leadership value. If he fails he must advance towards the swarm (unless already in close combat) at the normal 6”. So deep is his loathing of Rippers that he sometimes forgets to take advantage of certain crucial roles on the battlefield…i.e. shooting. When Limpy fails his leadership test and advances towards the enemy Ripper Swarm, he and his squad must run every turn toward the targeted swarm. This blood crazed charge towards the enemy gives him Furious Charge if he gets the charge on the Ripper Swarm. At no point will Limpy and his squad stop charging at the Rippers, even if it means to get a ride to get there faster. Once he has failed to keep his anger in check he must maintain the charge for Death or Glory.
Ya I know the paint job sucks but it was a long time ago, i'll get that fixed up, and maybe convert it a little more.

"The only hatred any man should hone, is hatred against himself for not being able to serve the Emperor to his full extent. This is the hatred he should unleash upon the enemy, and in doing so, the Emperor will protect."
Master Lucius, Chapter Master of the Noble Templars
I'm very amused by this. I don't know if he's balanced, and I don't care. This is the kind of thing 40k was made for. As long as you and your buddies like him, I'd use him in every game. He's a great narrative type character.
There are only a few things I'm uncertain of. They're mainly fluff concerns dealing with how much self restraint marines are supposed to have, but I'm totally letting them slide because I like this idea way too much.
I do have a further suggestion. Your nid friend should get a special character ripper swarm that is Limpy's arch rival and nemesis. That'd spice things up for a grudge match!
I'm trying to catalog every song with a reference to yetis or Sasquatch. Please help.
I lOVE it. If I have the time to, i'm deffinantly making one. I'd take it tto tourny's and at least TRY to use it... even though I wont be able to.
