First of all ork choppas. They are 2 points as opposed to 1. They reduce 3+ and 2+ saves to 4+, making them excellent vs SMs and CSMs but a waste of points vs low armour enemies like IG. To make them worth their pouints vs any enemy they now reduce all saves by 1 so 2+ becomes 3+ etc. Now SMs can use terminators against orks effectively.

Hellguns are the same accept they are good vs low armour troops [s3 ap5] and the same as a lasgun vs high armoured troops. Change hellguns to s4 ap-. Now hellguns are better than lasguns vs all enemies but not too powerful.

i think you've got a good idea here...i especially like the choppa idea

there are a few weapons that need changing (being effective against one enemy, but not another seems wrong unless they are designed to kill that enemy)

chainswords i think should have somthing that makes them unique (as the are known in the fluff for bein alot better than a simple knife)...somthing along the lines of your choppa rules would be good, but this might make the game a little too complicated sadly...

Yeah, it's a pretty good idea. Some weapons are just not represented well enough in Warhammer 40k.

Regarding the issue of chainswords: Maybe they should have something like ignore armour saves on a 6 to hit and a 6 to wound?

Yes the hell gun is really crappy the way it is now as for the choppas that idea is good too. I would really like some new rules for the chainsword too because like you said it would be way better that a crappy knife maybe it could be rending the turn you charge?

Chainswords -1 armour save, 2pts instead of 1.

Anyone else have any changes they'd like to see?

The funny thing here is that a LOT of people used to complain about how complicated 2nd edition was when every type of weapon did something different. I was NOT one of these people, btw, I liked that part of 2nd edition.

I agree with the Choppa part though. It's too powerful vs Terminators, Just right vs. SM's and not powerful enough vs Guardsmen.

I like the chainswords idea, I always thought the noble chainsword deserved SOME kind of coo upgrade.
