    I was thinking for some new weapons for the tau and came up with the following:

    Plasma Blaster
    Any firewarrior unit may take 1 plasma blaster at 10pts
    Range 24"
    Strength 6
    AP 2
    Rapid fire
    Gets hot*
    Does not benefit from markerlight's bonus

    "Silent Hunter" Long-baralled pulse rifle 65pts
    One per 750pts
    The Rifle is a stationary turrent and may not move.
    Treat it as a vehicle with AV 10 that any glancing or penetrating hits will destroy. It takes up a single troops slot.
    Range 72"
    Strength special
    AP 4
    Heavy 1
    Always hit on 2+
    Always wound on 3+
    1d6 plus 5 Armour Pen

    *Only from a roll of one (for next edition this will matter more)

    So what do you guys think? I am stuck under what slot to give to the silent hunter and supposed troops would do but then i added the limit to make it more balaced.
    Comments and (constructive) critism welcome and encouraged.

    Silent Hunter- Make it's ap 4. So it's more like a pulse rifle sniper rifle. It shouldn't be able to destroy marines. Also something with ap 3 shouldn't be called the Silent Hunter.

    BTW Lose the crew. Make it a stationary turret. Make it more around 70 points.
    The DS sucks because to look at two screens, you would need two eyes!!!

    I like the plasma blaster. Though if you keep the name I would make it have less range. Blaster sounds short range. Maybe this....
    Plasma Machine Gun

    Range 36"
    Str 6
    AP 2
    Heavy 3

    You may take one of these in a fire warrior squad.(i.e. 4 fire warrior squads with 1 plasma machine gun in each squad) 2 fire warriors may form this heavy weapons team. (works just like imp. gaurd weapons teams, these 2 fw count as part of the squad. which means if you take this then you take 2 less fw in that squad)
    Points Cost: 30 (includes 2 fw)

    Comments:Good but not too good.

    Edit: Took out Gets Hot!

    I would remove the gets hot, it's not characteristic with the highly advanced Tau weaponry.

    what about a tau pistol seeing as some forge world models (tau air pilots) have them...

    Plasma Blaster is an Ultramarine weapon (Captain Invictus)
