I've long wondered what it would be like to give dark eldar a titan with some spiffy and thematic options.
This is purely just an idea i had, to give some punch to the fragile spiky-elves.
I'd like to hear some comments/criticism on it, as well as what you think it should cost, as i really have no idea.
It's probably horribly overpowered as well, so i'd like some suggestions overall.
I dont have my apocalypse rules up to snuff, since i haven't had the chance to get a game in yet, so excuse me if i have gotten something wrong.
As for the model, picture an evil twin of the old Phantom titan. something like the Eva from Neon genesis evangelion perhaps.
Dark eldar titan:
Spawned from the deranged mind of El'rath, the wealthiest Archon ever to have lived, his wealth and insanity even surpassing that of asdrubael vect, this titan was manufactured as part of an ultimate plan to aqcuire souls on a massive scale;
To drain an entire city of it's life-essence all at once and then transfer it to El'rath and his kabal, ensuring his top spot amongst the kabals of commorragh and freeing his soul from the pull of She who thirsts for a time.
It has only been used once since it's creation though, the soulflayer mechanism went unused as an unintended side-effect of the weapon killed every dark eldar present, including the titan's pilots!
Swift, walker, Titan, Fleet of foot, Hit and run, relentless
AV F:13 S:13 R:12 WS:4 BS:5 S:7 I:4 A:3(4)
The immense titan is both Swift and graceful thanks to internal gravity-propulsion drives, so may move an additional d6 when running.
2 structure points.
Flayer Core bomb:
This is a strategic asset usable only by the Soulflayer's controller, and can be chosen instead of one normal asset.
The controlling player may choose to activate the bomb in the beginning of any player turn.
Roll a d6,
Fizzle, the Core shorts out for the remainder of the game.
The core detonates prematurely, the titan suffers an apocalyptic explosion result on the damage table.
The core ejects successfully and then detonates.
place an apocalyptic blast template anywhere within 36" and roll 2d6 scatter. everything under the template suffers a str 9 ap1 hit that causes instant death regardless of Toughness.
The bomb is fired as ordnance in regards to cover saves and vehicle penetration.
The titan is always considered wrecked(unless exploded) after using the core bomb, as it's powerplant is no longer functional.
The use of the bomb does not make the wrecked titan count towards Kill or victory-points.
Any unit that come into contact with The Soulflayer must roll a 4+ on a D6 or take 3d6 str4 ap- hits as if in close combat, saves allowed as normal.
Vehicles get d3 automatic glancing hits on the roll of a 4+.
2+ Invuln. save from all shooting and psychic attacks.
On the roll of a 1 , a field is lost.
The soulshield automatically ignores all shooting strength 3 or below, as it's simply too powerful!
The soulflayer starts with 3 Soulshields, and can have a maximum of 6.
at the start of each game turn (except the first), roll a d6, on a 4+ a field is regained.
For every field on the soulflayer at the start of each player turn (after the roll for regain), the closest enemy model within 12" dies, no saves allowed as it's soul is ripped from it's body to fuel the machine. (the owner of the affected model may choose which model to remove if it's a tie)
Passengers embarked on transports are valid targets for this.
vehicles that has a soul interred are also a target (dreadnoughts, defilers, soulgrinders, talos etc)
If a psyker is removed in this way, the Soulflayer immediately gains the maximum amount of fields, and it's drives are repaired if it was immobilised.
Pick one non-infantry model within 56"
Roll 3d6, the target is moved that amount directly towards the soulflayer.
Any unit caught in it's path that isnt a superheavy, gargantuan creature or titan must make an initiative test or be instantly crushed, no armour-saves apply.
If the affected unit is pulled into base-contact with the Soulflayer, they must follow the procedures for entering the shock field at the end of the move as well.
If the harpoon hasn't fired in the previous turn you may use it to target and pull enemy flyers to the ground as they come in within 36" of the soulflayer.
(this means that the secondary-fire harpoon is used in the opponents phase)
On the roll of a 3+ the flyer is pulled to the ground, erupting in flames.
(if multiple separate flyers come in range, you must choose one)
If the flyer is part of a unit or formation, the whole formation is brought crashing down.
If the targeted flyer is also a skimmer/can land it is simply immobilised instead.
The soulflayer is equipped with a pair of Agoniser fists. (extra attack included in profile)
Each successful hit with the fists is tripled (x3)
The fists automatically wound on a 2+.
No saves apply.
Vehicles get penetrating hits on a 3+ (instead of the ususal 4+ glance)
The soulflayer is equipped with a bigger version of a Webwayportal, instead of a blast marker, place a Large blast marker at it's feet.
The soulflayer may still fire it's weapons while opening the portal.
Dark lance cannon:
A shoulder mounted, tri-barreled scaled up version of the dark lance.
Range: 96" Str: 8 ap:2 , Heavy 3 , Lance
Splinter torrent cannon:
A shoulder mounted, scaled up version of the splinter cannon
Range 36", STR: 4, AP:5, assault 1, Large blast
these may be equipped in any combination but only 2 in total.
(One on each shoulder)

Sounds fair to me but I think easier to imagine some kind of flyer than a walker, or a drop pod like thing, or a heavy skimmer. Like a floating fortress with loads of slave snares and cannons that relentlessly foating over the battlefield (can be used with walker rules though) and picks up the bodies.
Or smaller walkers in a squad without heavy weapons but agonisers that can use Hit and Run and running around the battlefield and beat up the enemy`s heavy support. Also a combination of two: smaller walkers running in and out from the fortress.
What do You think?
It looks faily good as is. There are a couple of suggestions that I would offer.
1. Shockfield: Seems over the top, and kinda necron-like.
2. Soulshields/Structure Points: I say three points (being a Phantom titan equivilent, it should be a full sized battle titan) and soulshields without psychic protection and re-gained on a 5+, which should help to encourage people to not sit in the back for three turns building shields when the titan should be killing everything in sight.
3. Gravity harpoon: I really like the idea, but something feels a little wrong with it...
4. Agonizer fists: More effective against infantry? Maybe use something like this in lieu of the shockfield, every model. It seems wierd that a titan weapon would only wound infantry on a 4+, and would be so ineffctive against vehicles. Every unit in base to base contact takes an agonizer hit on a 4+?
5. Scale up the Dark Lance Cannon? Less shots at more strength?
I don't know, but I really like the idea of a CC oriented titan.
The Soulshield, Webway Projector, and Flayer Bomb are all really cool.
Perhaps a replacement for the Gravity Harpoon might be weaponized souls released from the Soulshield. All units within 12" of the Soulflayer must pass a leadership test at -3 Ld or take D6 wounds & fall back. Only invulnerable saves are allowed, and Fearless units would not fall back. Using this weapon removes one field from the Soulshield.
The Agoniser Fists should always wound infantry on a 2+ imo.
I say keep the Tri-lance as an option, but keep the range around 48". The Splinter Torrent Cannon should literally send a torrent of shots at its target. Ten shots maybe? Another cool option might be the Phantom Lance as seen in BFG. It could be something like this:
S:10, AP:1, Range:72", Type:Heavy 1
As with other Phantom Lances, a roll to hit of 5+ causes two hits instead of one.
I unfortunately cannot be of much help when it comes to judging points costs for titans.
Thanks for writing this up. It's a fun idea!
good points everyone.
I decided on a walker instead of a skimmer because i think the shadow already fills in that spot pretty nicely. and because i love walkers.
The shockfield is a sort of deterrent from the titan to get bogged down with gaunts and the likes all game.(or from getting raped with powerfists flank marching in)
note that it doesn't activate when the titan charges stuff, only when other units moves into it.
Gravity harpoon.. hmm well, it'll make a big mess of the board if you get to use it alot.
maybe make it only target vehicles/gargantuans/superheavies/titans?
I updated the rules to fit your suggestions a bit.

I think you could probably just use Hit & Run to keep him from getting stuck in the tar pit.
Very cool work arachnid, I think you should test the rules out and Make a test modal . Also in the future next try for a super heavy like raider or talos that i would love to see.
What about a upgrade for the titan like the talo tail weapon but on a grander scale?.
Keep up the good work & Also repped.
