Welcome to Librarium Online!
I have a small tyranid army and im getting a really good deal for 3 carniflexes, but they are the older model, does anyone know if you allowed to use the older models at tournaments or anything, or do you have to use the latest model?
I see no problem with that. And I doubt anyone else will. I think it's quite cool to have some older models in an army.

only an arsehat would not allow old style models on a battlefield, and like RhYnO said " At the end of the day they are still GW models."

Yup, no model will ever be made illegal due to age - to do that would be to imply that the current models might one day be illegal, and that would kill GWs sales in a nano-second.
If the models are on the base they were sold with, everything is perfectly fine (as long as the type exists in the codex, lol)
i'm pretty sure as long as it doesnt effect the game it isn't an issue
an example of it effecting the game would be using terminators with smaller bases beause it would make deep striking easier, that wouldnt be allowed
