Default Apocalypse Assassin Formation!

Good evening all,
This formation is very rough, just bare with me:

Here is the formation basics:
  • The leader will be a Inquisitor Lord (or represented as the master of the temples in battle).
  • The elites will obviously Imperial Assassins (or as highly trained operatives) same as a execution force.
  • Troops will be Death Cult assassins (trainee assassins)
For Heavy Support: Use Gene sympathetic gas (codex assassins)

For the rest I'll try and develop something, this is very rough, so be gentle, C&C appreciated.

Wolfy09

P.S I would like to thank Freman with helping me with some of the ideas

Sounds interesting. Remember apocalypse has no force organisation benefits but most formations have minimum and maximum members of the particular formation.

how about something like this...

1 mandatory =][= lord with retinue.
1-4 Assasins (clexus, calidus, vindicare, eversor)
6-12 deathcult assasins.

Points 150 plus models.

Advantages.
Everything in the formation infiltrates, even the =][= Lord and even if your side has the first turn.
All deathcult assasins count as troops choices and therefore can claim objectives (non vehicle troop choices).
Your army gets the surgical raids strategic asset.

Disadvangtages.
Whole formation must infiltrate within 12" of the inquisitor or must arrive by reserve/outflank on the same turn and all within 12" of the inquisitor.

Thankyou, what do you think I could make for Heavy Support and Fast Attack? Maybe Fast Attack, transport, Land speeder storm. Do you know where you can get clear apocalypse data sheets?

I think it looks pretty sweet, dunno if anything will really fit into a fast attack or heavy role unless you consider eversors as fast attacks and vindicares as heavy.

If you wanted to make up a unit you could come up with a vindicare that only has the turbo-pentrator round, but has more of them to be the "heavy"

For 150 pts I think you should get a surgical raid per master assassin you choose. Surgical raids aren't that great anyway as few models are left by themselves.

The master assassin would be the 4 main assassins.

A beefed up surgical raids asset is granted by the assassin execution force - that one formation already handles the four main temple assassins.

There is nothing for around for the death cult and inquisitor aspect though - probably the best place to focus a new formation by giving them more use on the apoc battlefield (i.e. meltabombs and frag grenades for cultists, and the camoflage asset for the unit).

Perhaps the lord has the ability to negate a single enemy asset card - representing the assassin's work behind the lines... though how to make the lord himself useful... sniper retinue perhaps?

You can download the blank Apocalypse data sheet from GW's website under 40k, articles, gaming, Creating Your Own Datasheets and Scratch-Built Models. The link for the download is on page 10. I'd post a direct link, but I'm afraid they'll sue us!

The file is a pdf, so you can only modify it if you have Adobe Acrobat (and not just the free reader, but the full blown program).

Finally, if you do use this and make anything cool, be careful where you post it, because GW might sue you! The page where this link is posted contains a link to a sample homemade datasheet, and they are very clear about the fact that you can use that in your games, but they don't define what you can and can't do with the blank form.

Of course you can post a link to a GW website where they alow you to download a free pdf file that is designed to let you make up your own datasheets. Posting a link to a website with pirate copies of copywrighted codexes for example is not alowed, but this is a free download published by GW themselves to alow playes of their games to wright their own stuff.

Can you put those datasheets on your own website or on a forum for others to see and use? Yes.

Can you publish those datasheets in a booklet or on a website and sell them? No.

Would GW sue you if they thought you were doing something wrong? Probably not. They would first send you a letter or email asking (or demanding) you remove the offending item. As long as you did that there would be no problem.

In that case, here's the link:

http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_..._Datasheet.pdf

The article that it comes from isn't bad either.

Just to be on the safe side about posting our creations, I emailed GW, to ask them about it. They probably get thousands of emails every day, so it'll take a while before I get a response. I think you're probably right, but I thought I'd ask them just to be safe.

Unfortunately, you need a program called Adobe Acrobat.

Adobe makes the Acrobat Reader a free program so that anyone can view pdf's, but the reader won't let you edit the document. For that, you have to buy the the full Acrobat program.

This is exactly why most companies that publish online material use pdf format- they know that anyone with a computer will be able to read it for free, but very few of us will be able to modify it or reverse engineer it in order to pull out pieces of artwork and stuff.

I'm not sure how much the full acrobat program costs, but most Adobe stuff (Photoshop, Premiere, etc.) are intended for commercial use so A) you can do almost anything with them but the learning curve is a little steep and C) their some what expensive (although well worth it once you know how to use them).
