Well having begun to win battles with my Dark Eldar Ive decided I need a new challenge so decided on a fluff army. Da Gretchin Revolushunary Kommittee. (or at least a branch there of).
Unsurprisingly 3 battles later I started making house rules.
Revolushunary Mob -110pts
WS BS S T W I A LD Sv
Revolushunary 2 4 2 2 1 3 1 4 -
Demagogue 2 4 2 2 1 3 2 6 5+
1 Demagogue, 19 Revolushunaries
Take up to an additional 10 grots +5pts each
2 Revolushunaries may form a burna team at +10pts
Wargear: GRot Blasta, Slashy Knife
(deamagogue) Bigga Blasta, Slashy Knife
Special Rules: Stealth, Ambush(See Codex:Catachan), Demagogue provides Mob Rule, Furious Charge and Hit and Run
Bigga Blasta: Range 12” S4 AP6 Assault 1

Nice idea but 5pts each for a T2 save - unit? Ouch. Seems they should be a as cheap as conscripts at least - maybe cheaper. Then again every pebble on the board gives a 4+ to them.
yeah the 5pts is mainly due to the fact that ambush comes from codex catachan, which has a history for being rather broken. So to be on the safe side I made them 5pts. otherwise it would be 4pts.
I never had the Catachan codex - what does ambush do?
well, im not sure on what the forum rules are for posting rules from out of print/ defunct codecies, but ill tell you the general gist.
basically you divide the table up into 1 foot squares and you can allocate up to 1 unit with the ambush rule to each square (can't be a square in the enemies deployment zone).
It is then 'revealed' whenever the owning player decides or when certain units (mostly mek or technical specialists, psykers, or beasts and some other HQs and units) spot them by giving up a turn of shooting to scan the square they are in.
They get placed in a terrain piece in the square and are able to shoot and assault that turn counting as not having moved.
So yeah it can be rather powerful, however I felt scouts may not be enough and having an entire army that can outflank or infiltrate felt kinda weird and disfunctional to play, so this sort of filled the gap in the best possible way. Plus I imagine itd make for a very intense and memorable battle too.
