    Imperial Guard Character: Grigori Zhukov

Starting off as a miner on one of the Imperial owned worlds, Grigori was a demolitions expert. For years he mined precious ore for the Imperium. However, a roving Ork Warband soon attacked his homeworld. With the Imperial Armies doing their best to keep the majors cities intact, the mining outposts were left to defend for themselves. Taking it upon himself, Grigori got his fellow miners together and they set out a plan to defend against the Ork invaders.

Using their high number of explosives, Grigori and his men began the work of booby trapping almost every inch of their compound. Aswell as the outpost, each man strapped several explosives to themselves. If they were to fall, they would take as many of the Greenskinned invaders with them as they could. The miners had sufferred in the depths of the earth together for many years and each would willingly give their lives for their fellow miner.

It was only a matter of time before the Ork invaders reached Grigori and the outpost. The battle didn't last very long though. Many of the Orks were wiped out by the initial explosions, with the rest being killed by the many men who sacrificed their lives with the explosives strapped to them.

Within a week the Imperial Guard arrived bringing news that the Orks had been defeated. Upon arriving however they were shocked to see the mountains of Ork bodies and limbs that the miners had stacked at the entrance to the camp. After telling their tale the miners were quickly indoctrinated into the Imperial Army and now Grigori leads his own specialised demolitions team.

Grigori may replace the leader of a single Veteran Squad for 100 Points

    WS BS S T W I A Ld Sv
    3 4 3 3 1 1 2 9 5+
Wargear: Las Pistol, Demo Charges, Battlefield Preparation
Special Rules: Explosives Expert, Plasma Axes, Fearless, Infiltrate, Deep Strike, Self Sacrifice

Explosive Expert: Grigori has used explosives in his mining operations for years and knows how to use the least amount of explosive to cause the biggest explosion. His demolition charges are as powerful as the Imperial Guards, however they are no bigger than Grenades.

Grigori can use a demo charge every turn, no matter if he has used them in previous turns. In addition, he is able to re-roll the scatter dice for any thrown demo charges.

Plasma Axes: Having used the Plasma Axes for years in the mines, the miners have become adept user of it.

Grigori's squad replace their Lasguns with Las Pistols. Their close combat attacks count as being rending.

Battlefield Preparation: Using their mining skills, Grigori and his miners are often dropped onto a planet months before an Imperial invasion force arrives. While on the planet they tunnel to key enemy camps and infiltrate them, planting explosives at key points throughout. When the invading Imperial Forces arrive they then set off the explosions in the hope of heavily weakening the enemy position.

Before table sides are chosen, pick a piece of terrain and write it down on paper. Then continue as normal. Once the game has started, from turn 2 onwards you can decide to blow the explosives. When you want to have the explosives go off, it must be your movement phase. Roll a D6. On a 3+ the bomb has gone off. Remove the terrain piece written on the paper. Any models wholly or partially in the terrain when it is removed suffer a Strength 8, AP 2 hit. Any vehicles within the terrain count as being hit on their side armour. On a roll of 1 or 2 the enemy has found the bomb and disarmed it. No further attempts can be made.

Self Sacrifice: After the events of his homeworld, Grigori now instills in his men the will to sacrifice themselves for their brothers. Each is strapped with enough explosive to tear the flesh from an Orks body leaving nothing but smouldering bones

Every time a model in Grigori's unit is removed as a casualty in close combat, any models in base to base with it, friend or foe take a Strength 6 rending hit.

Seems characterful and fun. Honestly unlimited demo charges with a reroll does seem a bit overpowered, I'd reduce his points a bit to 80 and drop either the reroll scatter or the unlimited. Also, give him a close combat weapon.

self sacrifice is a little complicated but seems like it could be fun. at first i didn't this rule then thought about how the S6 could set off the other explosives in the units causing a funny chain reaction.

umm, 100pts for a demo charge every turn. Yes please! Add in the ability to nuke any piece of terrain on the board and kill everything inside it and you've got yourself one HELL of an underpointed character.

    He should be around 120-150pts

Making yourself soft and squidgy to reduce point cost still doesn't make up for his shear amount of destructive ability. And technically you actually have this:

170pts - 10 wounds, T3. Cos his vets are cannon fodder.
    Ye Old Necrons (R.I.P.) (7000pts) W52 D5 L9
    New Crons!!! (5000pts) W1 D1 L1
    Blood Angels (2500pts) W4 D0 L1

    -+1 BS
-Replaced Las Pistol with 2 CCW's
    -Removed Battlefield Preparation
    -Added to the front
    -Removed Demo Charge scatter reroll
