Assault Company


The Eighth Reserve Company of a Codex Space Marine Chapter will consist entirely of Assault Squads. Their company will engage in brutal close quarters fighting wherever it is needed, using either jump packs, drop pods, rhino transports or power armoured feet to close the distance to the enemy as rapidly as possible. When operating as a single unit, the Assault Company becomes a nigh-on unstoppable maelstrom of destruction, emerging from bloody combat time after time, ready to take on the next target. At times the company may split into two halves, forces on the ground clearing the way for their brothers descending via jump pack or drop pods to strike where the enemy is weakest, using narrow-band locator beacons to guide them down safely. Wherever they strike, the Captain of a Chapter's Eighth Company will always be a warrior of sublime skill, his every charge a line breaker, his every blow a killing strike, his innate ferocity an example to his warriors that they forever strive to match in battle.

Wings Of Fire, Chariots Of Steel: All units in the Assault Company must either be equipped with Jump Packs, a Rhino or a Drop Pod. Additionally, the Command Squad can choose a Razorback, or can be equipped with Jump Packs for a cost of +50 pts if the Space Marine Captain has also taken a Jump Pack.

Twinned Swords: The formation is split into two elements: those in Rhinos or Razorbacks, which are either deployed normally or placed into strategic reserve, and those with Jump Packs or Drop Pods, which will always arrive by Deep Strike.
Ground elements, if not deployed at the beginning of the game, will always arrive on the first turn.
Deep striking elements will arrive in the first turn if there are only deep-striking units, but if there are also ground elements they will arrive on the turn after the ground elements, and after the ground element has compeleted their moves that turn (rather than at the beginning of the movement phase as normal).

Strike From The skies, Brothers!: All Sergeants in the formation are equipped with locator beacons, however these may only be used by units chosen as part of the Assault Company.

Angel Of Judgement: On any turn in which the Space Marine Captain assaults an enemy unit, he and any units from the Assault company within 6" of him (when charges are declared) have the Furious Charge rule.
