    Behemoth Crusher Brood - Revised

The current Behemoth Crusher Brood formation was written for the 4th edition Tyranids codex. It is now obsolete as there is no longer the Extended Carapace biomorph. Also crushing claws work differently now than it used to. This revised formation is to put it more in line with 5th edition Tyranids.

    Behemoth Crusher Brood

Points: 100 + models (I've raised to cost to reflect the fact that now you can take carnifexes in broods)

    Formation:
3+ Carnifex broods. Each brood must take 1 set of Crushing Claws for each of the carnifex in the brood.
    0-2 Scythed Hierodules

    Special Rules:
    Strike Force:
Each model from a Crusher Brood must be deployed within 6" of another model from a Crusher Brood. If coming in from reserves, they must enter the table within 6" of another model from a Crusher Brood.

Crusher Carnifexes: Unlike normal carnifexes, any carnifex in a Crusher Brood have 2 sets of Crushing Claws, giving it +2D3 extra attacks in close combat in addition to its base attacks (rolled for at the beginning of each round of combat), striking at Initiative 1.

Hyperactive Assault: All carnifexes in the formation has the Fleet USR.

That's why that formation was so good.

Back with 4th edition nids, imagine carnifexes with 2+ save, T7 and 5 wounds. Now imagine fleeting carnifexes with 2D6+2 attacks on the charge each. All this for only 50pts!!!

Carnifexes back then where super-nasty. GW knew it, and so they nerfed them for 5th edition nids.

It kind-of exists in the spearhead rules, though not with twin crushing claws.
Monstrous spearhead, 60 points. Up to 6 non-HQ MCs gain counter attack, fleet, furious charge, and rage.
