i was trying to think something up that might add a little spice to the game play, here are some weather effects that came to mind, and rules to govern them...
first, discuss with your opponent which weather apply to the battle area(example: can't have sand storms in a dense jungle now can we?)
before the first turn is taken, roll 1D6 to determine the severity of the local weather
1______Calm( no weather affects this battle)
2-3____Average (roll 1D6 at the start of each set of turns to determine weather)
4-5____Strong (roll 2D6 at the start of each set of turns to determine weather)
6______Severe (roll 3D6 at the start of each set of turns to determine weather, add 1 to the ressults of each dice)
2______heat(roll 1D6 for each non-vehicle, non-fearless squad on the board, on the roll of a 6, that unit rolls 1 un-modifide leadership test, if they fail, it suffers one wound)
3-4____windy(roll 1D6 for each non-vehilce squad on the board on the roll of a 6, that unit counts as moving through difficult terrain this turn)
5______dust devil( roll dice to determine down to a 1"square on the table and place a blast template there, scatter 1D6 at the beginning of each players turn, it counts as difficult terrain and blocks line of sight, if the template touches a unit, it must take a pinning test)
6______sand storm( every non-vehicle unit must take a pinning test at the beginning of their turn, and all non-vehicle units count as moving through difficult terrain.
3-4____meteor[ role dice to determine down to a 1" square on the table, then place a small blast template and scatter 1D6 the template count as (S4 AP 6) roll to wound and save as normal]
5______meteor shower[ role dice to determine down to a 1" square on the table, then place a small blast template and scatter 3D6, then place another template another scattered 2D6, and another scattered 1D6. the templates count as (S4 AP 6) roll to wound and save as normal]
6______radiation storm[at the beginning of your turn, roll 2D6 for each unit and vehicle, on a double 1, that unit suffers a str 10, AP1 wound(vehicles crew is stunned)]
2-4___heavy rain[ If any models would be in assault, their to-hit rolls are -1]
5_____lightning[ determine down to a 1" square, scatter 1 blast template 2D6 any model under the of the template(partials do not apply) recieves an automatic (S10 AP1) hit, roll for armor penetration glancing only.
6_____Tornado[ determine down to a 1" square, scatter 1 ordinance template 2D6, then at the beginning of each turn scatter 1D6, the template causes a "tank shock effect for each round ontop of a unit, is impassable and blocks line of sight, at the beginning of each set of turns, roll 1D6 on a 5+ the tornado is sustained into the new round of turns]
2-5___sub-zero[ roll 1D6 at the beginning of your turn for every non vehicle unit, on the roll of a 6, that unit is pinned]
6_____blizzard[ roll 1D6 on the result of a 6, every unit takes a pinning test, and rolls 2D6 on the result of a double 1, the unit suffers 1 automatic with no armor save possible. everything on the tabble moves as if in difficult terrain.]
4-5____lava burst[ roll 1D6, on the roll of a 6, determine down to a 1" square scatter a blast template 1D6 and place a flame template starting with the small end on the hole, and pointed towards the original placement. units touched by the flame template recieve a (s5 AP4) hit, roll to wound and save as normal]
6______erruption[ combine rules of meteor storm and lava burst, counting both damage templates]
5-6___TIMBER![ determine randomly, a peice of forest or jungle terrain on the board, any model in that terrain must make a save against a (s4 APx) hit]
***on doubles, re-roll only if it is an effect that affects every unit on the table***
don't have time to write fluff to explain them further, it would probably help you understand why things are the way they are, at any rate there they are
well if any notices something a little WAY to rediculous, or maybe a whole in my logic that would screw the game up horribly, please feel free to share. also if you thought of a type of game board i didn't include, again, say something.
open for comments and sugjestions, thanks
Protect your frailty in a Mechanical body.
Remove your frailty with mobility.
Hide your frailty in a body unseen.
Its looks good but would slow the game down a lot as you could be rolling 3 times for each squad per turn before you start playing depending on the strength of the weather. Still your ideas for the weather affects are cool and fit in nice with the game and terrian type , nice one
If it lives it will be consumed

Or perhaps a friendly neighbour hood mod could shunt it in the right direction.
Sounds cool but Valhallen Imperial gaurd would be immune to the snow aspect obviously because of their expertise in the snowy environments. Unit specialities could of course be taken into consideration.
Also to do witht he snow maybe models with less clothes would be more affected, a marine with a cloak would be less affected than a scantily clad Dark Eldar for instance.
Nice rules

When I say jump you don't ask me 'How high?' maggot! You jump!
Nice rules, I ilek them! I tried to make some up myself a few months back but found a page on the GW USA website theat already had a load of really quite interesting unstable weather/enviroment rules, including the standard Hot/cold or Light/dark planets to mucus producing bacteria to deadly cloud organisms to the extreme is rifts in reality including black holes altering the flow of time, if a warp rift emmerge in the middle of the planet possiblylinking two worlds together? fun little scenario to test out IMO and also if a planet was in the warp and bullets could move though people and vehicles. Very interesting indeed maybe you couls have a look at these rules or by all means keep experimenting yourself!

Nice Idea. (Y)
However you should add affects for accuracy and weapon ranges. Just ask any sharpshooter how much wind upsets them. In the Olympics you saw the shooters delay or stop shooting when wind gusts happened. The movement rules punish CC armies like Nid's and Orc's and aid shooty armies. Add some more penalties for ranged weapons. Also add night time like rules for fog and limited visibility. I saw some GW senarios where vacuum conditions worsened armour saves and some low gravity senarios which speed movement.
nice rules, but if u want weather rules that are already established, check out the game VOR, they came out with weather rules similar to these, but a little bit more simple to use, less rolling.
