Welcome to Librarium Online!
Just thought to figure out stats and special rules for Riddick from movies Pitch Black and Chronicles of Riddick... Thought of posting in the Armies (or Armies:IG) forums, but then figured that Rules Development (in regards to house rules) would probably be the best place to post. =)
As can be figured from the equipment, my take on Riddick is based on the first movie. And yes, quite a slew of Special Rules... I hope they aren't too overpowering, while still retaining the character of Riddick.
No points cost assigned, I'd reserve Riddick to be used as a special Imperial character for Killteams and similar specialty scenarios... Oh, and he'd be used alone, with no other models.
Richard B. Riddick
Independent Character: Riddick is treated as an Independent Character with the exception that he may never join or be a part of a unit.
Riddick's Shiv: 1-handed CC weapon.
Johns' Gauge: 2-handed shooting weapon, 12" S3 AP- Assault 2. Riddick may count this as an additional CC weapon for the purposes of an extra attack (already factored into the statline)
Agile: In addition to his 5+ Armour save (from being a tough Furian ) Riddick has a 4+ Invulnerable thanks to his preternatural agility and reflexes.
Enhanced Eyes: Riddick's ability to see enemy units isn't affected by the scenario special rule of "Night Fighting". This only applies to the scenario special rule, not model special rules (like Tau Stealth Suits) which are similar in effect.
Exceptional Hand-to-Hand Capability: Riddick never suffers from outnumbering penalties in close combat.
Fearless: Riddick is Fearless as per the USR "Fearless".
Hit & Run: Riddick's stealthiness gives him the ability to leave CC as per the USR "Hit & Run"
Quick on His Feet: If Riddick doesn't shoot in the Shooting phase, he may Fleet.
Skilled With Shiv: Thanks to Riddick's exceptional skill, the Shiv always hits on 3+, wounds on 4+ and counts as a Power Weapon. (weaker version: Shiv hits on WS, wounds on S><T, counts as a Rending weapon)
Sneak: When Riddick assaults enemy in cover, the enemy does not benefit from the Cover and all fighting is resolved per normal Initiative. Only applies to enemy actually occupying Cover, not model special rules which are similar in effect.
Now, are they too overpowering or would You allow Your opponent to play with this? If not, then what suggestions do You have for making him better/balanced? Bear in mind, I'm not intending this to be used in every game, just for a few special scenarios where the opponent is aware of him.

Ws 6 is too high i think, Dante master of the blood angels is Ws 6. he is a veterean 1100 year old genetically enhanced marine.
Make him Ws 5 and i reckon hes fair, base his rules on the imperial assasins.
The Necromongers or Necrophiliacs (whatever they're called) would actually be rather cool in 40k. What with being an all conquring army and having some very gothic imagery.
Id be tempted to say he is too hard - if he was that much of a superhuman, he wouldnt bother with hit and run, he'd just romp through the enemies with his little knife.
I'd err more towards
Save 4+ inv
armed with a close combat weapon and a shotgun and has the veteran skills true grit and counter attack+ the one that makes him able to easily deal with sentries
all shooting attacks directed towards him have to be made using nightfight rules
Riddick himself is not subject to normal night fight rules and can see and fire as normal
this makes him less overpowering but a valuable asset to a killteam

Trust me the two are... quite different
Those toned down rules are a better, although he is pretty over powering.
T4 should stand, when those Necromongers had him in that mind reading majooby (real word honest) he withstood it quite well.
WS6 justified, he is Furian (reason in itself) did you not see the cool knife twisling thing in Chronicles of Riddick. WS5 at lowest, you going to give him same WS as a IG officer?
BS4 Please leave that be, don't give him the same BS as a Gaurdsmen that would be embarasing
Rest of the toned down stats seem fine.
Although he really does need the hit and run. If he can't break the unit in round 1, he'll die from outnumbering and the new fearless rules. (unless by Exceptional Hand-to-Hand Capability he doesn't take the extra rules)
But also its fluffy for him, Riddick didn't cut down swathes of men, he killed those he needed to.

WS 6 is too much
WS 5 is not low, this is on par with a DG grand master and SM Force masters.
WS 4 sounds about right, considering he isnt a genetically modified super soldier.
Feel happy he didnt squeeze in that shockwave attack he did on the prison planet
As apostles yet not as Apostles. As Believers yet not as Believers. As Traitors yet not as Traitors! We are Disciples of Vengeance. Only bowing and praying forgiveness of our God. Only bowing and defeating the enemies of our God. Wielding our Swords in the night and brandishing our Guns during the day. We are Soldiers. The Soldiers of Mala!

true but he did manage to kill a guy with nothing than a tea cup :hmm:
the WS6 sits very nicly with the charicter even vs the necromongers high lord he held up for a while even having super wraith like powers fighting against him :shifty:
spambot kill tally: 79

I have a friend who has a model for Boba Fett from star wars made from games workshop parts he currently uses the eversor assasain rules but he is working on his own set of rules for the model, i'll ask him to give me a copy of them and then i'll post them.
