I was looking over the Imperial Guard Doctrines last night and it occurred to me that some more could be added. I shall start the ball rolling

Mounted Regiment- 0-3 Squads of Rough Riders may be taken as troop choices

Squad medics- Each Squad may contain 0-1 medic like the command squad can

Independent Priests- Like Independent Commissars only with priests

They look good, but would the Independent Priests include the Buyback for the Priests, or would you have to take another doctrine point to buy Priests.

I am tempted to make the Independent Priests not require a Seprate Doctrine but game ballance is a concern- note that like the Independent Commissars they will cost 5 points extra each and use up an Elites choice.

Night Vision Specialists: 10 points a squad (debateable)
The unit is used to fighting in Night conditions as their world is in almost perpetual night time. They may re-roll the distance for sight distance,

Forge World:
The regiment comes from a Forge world and has acess to many special and rare weapons. Any Infantry platoon unit may choose another special weapon instead of a Heavy weapon.

While were making things independant......

Roaming Psykers
:
For an extra 10 (5?) points the Sanctioned psyker becomes a Independant character, but must join a unit (too weak to roam alone and may cause abuse somehow). However the squad he joins are always in fear of the weak connection the psyker has to the immaterium, the squad suffers a -1 to Ld.
3 Psykers may be taken for one elite choice, but may join different squads.

How are these? The Forge world is inspired from the new SM codex, Cleanse and Purge.

The night vision one had to be done afterall there are regiments in the fluff who specialise in it.

Forge World one is ok, never heard of the Guard doing that in regular squads but I see no reason at all why not.

Roaming Psykers is the only one that I am unsure about, -1 ld sounds fair but what would a commander make of the damage to morale?

you cant have an independant priest. read your fluff and use some sense. maybe the reason there arent more doctrines is because they wanted to keep it simple and stop over powered things.

1. This is rules development, here we develop the rules!

2. If you dislike the idea of people making house rules you do not post here, yes it really is that simple!

3. The Priest stat line also represents several ranks in the Ecclesiarchy such as Missionaries Confessors and Cardinals who can go where ever they please.

4. The fluff says they serve as advisors but also says they are there to inspire so the idea of them being independent is somewhat supported.

5. Finally some friendly advice: think before you post, post constructively and if you want a long and happy time on LO telling a Global Moderator to "get some sense" is not a good move.

About the Forge World doctrine: great doctrine, bad name. How about calling it "tunnel fighters" or something of the sort. No, call it "house-to-house", because in that situation, flamers or grenade launchers are useful, but a lascannon or heavy bolter will slow you down, get stuck in doors and bring the building down around you. There's a reason IRL building-clearing teams have M240s on their guns and a man with a shotgun. Those are modern-day "special weapons". Come to think of it...
Shotguns. Any squad may replace all lasguns with shotguns for free. Think, perhaps, of a militia regiment. Or Arbites.
Covering fire. The army may purchase a Preliminary Bombardment as a Heavy choice for 30 points.

i like the night vision idea, but i don't like the rule, b/c you could get a lower distance so how about re-rolling the lowest dice, or adding 1 more dice to the roll.

For night vision, say you roll 4 or 5 d6 and discard some of them.
