Thread: Codex: Necromancers- Discussion

  1. #21

the only thing i notice about this whole necromancer scheme is that you guys are kind of forgetting that armies have a certain amount of units. Its great that you guys are venting your imaginations and creating hundreds of units, but it should be capped. Thats part of making an army! Knowing GW, they would make 1.5 million different space marine units covering every single crevice of combat, but it just don't roll like that tommy.

    Khorne mortal enemy

i think khorne and his followers would be kind of violent to necromancers.
they are you know skulls for the skull throne etc and skulls in dead guys you know what im talking about.....

also the wight letric guys(forget what there called) should they have immunity to the psycic power scoruging and chain lightning representing there eletric absorbing bodies.

oh and what about kroot. they have a tendency to eat their fallen enemies to gain their traits

I have to agree with bruiser. We do have a crazy amount of unit choices. Even the 'nids have only four troop choices. They also only have 3 heavy support choices. Even with all that bio-engineering. We should maybe thim down the list a little little bit.

Bruiser, we've been thinking about the unit cap. In the other discussions its come up, and we've cut several units throughout this whole thing. In fact, if it weren't for the cap, I would have suggested making execution kin a seperate unit, as everyone seems to want them to be strong, but they don't really fit the Wight's fluff as 'heros'. I don't think we have a huge amount of units, but we are getting a bit carried away with all the options... Not everything needs to be as customizable as nids and stuff. If we get any more stuff, we'll probably have to start cutting things. I'd say we're probably around the max right now... I'd say if there was any problem with having way too much of something it'd have to be the huge armory and the huge amount of wight upgrades we currently have. We have 3 Hq (standard), 5 elite (bit much IMHO), 3 troop (good amount), 3 fast attack (also a good amount), and 5 Heavy Support (also might be a bit much). But overall, I'd hardly say its an overly huge amount of units compared to what we would have if we never cut anything. If we tried to create everything, then we'd have easily twice that many. Overall, I think that we are around the max amount of units allowable. We also have 4 special characters. Hardly an overbearing amount- The SM codex has more. For each thing, there is an army that has more. SM has the same amount of HQ, I think the Eldar have more Elites, but I'm not sure... Orks I think have more troops, SM have more FA, and SM have more Heavy Support. Overall, SM have more units then necros do... We probably have the largest armory, though. Muahahahahaha!!!!!!!!

As for the scourging, I would hardly call that a lightning attack.... More like pure psychic.

Yeah scourging really is pure psychic energy, that would be like saying the pyre elemetals are immune to holocaust. Which for those who don't know is the cleansing fire of a soul dedicated completely to the Emperor. Or at least something like that...

Anyway I think that maybe we could cut the wights and replace them with executioner kin, I will look throught the codex tonight and see what units I think could be cut...

I just don't like immunities... When you think about it, odds are the enemy would change frequency or use different weapons with similar effects against immune armies. As for Executioner kin and wights... I'd say go for it. Wights are cool and stuff, but something will have to go, be it harvesters, Ex-Kin, Wights, harrowed or the assasin thing.

The thing about the ork troops being so numerous well, they are all actually the same thing, just different equipment. Their codex is really old, and will probably all be rolled into 2-3 units with multiple options.

Bruiser, your probably right, but some armies still have more units then us. I've already mentioned that the marines have more units and special characters then we necros. As for the other races I can think of, Necron have barely any, Chaos have a huge crapload of units, nids have a huge potential amount, most likely in the billions depending on your unit definition, and Guard also have quite a few. I would hardly call the Necro's amount of units overbearing, though we should cut something for Ex-Kin.... I would suggest harvesters or harrowed. No one has really seemed too interested in harvesters so far and some might gawk at the idea of stealing other armies' units. Besides, I really like the idea of Wight heros... Sort of like extra elite HQs....

I'd say dump the harvesters if we have to. But only if we have to.
