Codex: Adeptus Custodes - Be inventive!

OK folks, the plan be this. Post stats based on fluff about the AC to produce codex entries concerning them. I'll get the ball rolling!

Gabrial Constantine - Captain-General of the Adeptus Custodes

    WS:5 BS:5 S:5 T:4 W:5 I:5( A:6 Ld:10 Sv:2+/5+

Wargear: The Eye of God, Spear of Destiny, Companial Armour

Special Rules: To a Space Marine what a Space Marine is to a man, Proto-Marine, Fearless, Supreme Commander, Emperors Embodiment, Large Target

Eye of God: Constanines' helemt is an Ancient relic from the DAoT. Equipt with sensors with technology long since lost, his helemt allows him survey the battlefield and intercept all enemy transmissions, physical or psychological. To represent this, all psykers with in 24" of Con. must take a morale test before using their power. Also the enemy is unable to use the Deepstrike rule while Con. is on the table.

Spear of Destiny: The Spear of Destiny is one of, if not the most, powerful weapon used by the Imperium. It takes the form of a Twin Bladed Guardian Spear. It was said that during the days of the Horus Heresy, its' aura alone banished thousands of demons back to the warp. To represent this, all Chaos units must take a morale test before engaging Con. in combat and must retreat 12" after they have finished. If they are unable to move 12", they take one wound for every " close they are to Con. His weapon ignores armour saves and hits 2 wounds on its' target. If he fails to hit, he can reroll again. It also has equiped a mastercrafted bolter at both ends, acting as a mastercrafted Storm Bolter.

Companial Armour: Con. is equiped with armour that provides protection equal to a Terminator whilst having none of the defects of the bulky frame of Tactical Drednaught Armour. His saves are equal to a Terminators from Codex: Space Marines.

To a Space Marine what a Space Marine is to a man: Aliens across the galaxy are already driven mad with fear when Space Marines arrive. However, when Custodes arrives, enemies that have lived long enough to have heard of them run away in terror. Chaos and even Orks are scared of their presence. All enemy units on the table most take a morale test before they begin any action at the beginning of their turn. If they fail, they must retreat 18" away.

Proto-Marine: As far as Impirial history goes, Gabrial was the first Space Marine of any kind to be created by the emperor. Therefore, all techniques Space Marines have come naturally to him. To represent this, you may pick 3 special rules in the Space Marine codex to apply to Gabrial.

Supreme Commander: It was a rare and blessed sight to see a Custodes in the Great Crusade, now it is an unthinkable event. All commanders know that Custodes have unparalelled experience and that giving Custodes command of their force would mean an almost guarenteed victory for the Imperium. To represent this, all of your units can reroll for firing weapons or morale tests if they choose.

Emperors Embodiment: The Captain-General is the closest living being in the Imperium to being the

Emperor and his ties are almost as close as his bond to the Primarchs. To represent this, All units within 24" of Con. pass all morale tests automatically and any effects that mean them to retreat are negated.

Large Target: Being a Custodes, he is larger even than a Space Marine. To represent this, any units fighting him in ranged combat may reroll to hit as long as the hit would not result in death.

Thank Alan for assisting me in making this

Dude this violates more rules of LO than I can think of. No posting of stats for starters, on top of that your fluff is lame "I am t3h l33t uber general, ph33r my super p0w3rz!".

Yeah, he's totally broken. Remove some of the DAoT equipment (especially the helmet) and reduce his special rules (especially the re-rolls for everything).

The "Large Target" rule doesn't really work. For him to be so large that people had trouble missing him, he'd have to be a Monstrous Creature.

That "To a Space Marine etc etc" rule is totally broken. It's essentially "I'm on the board, so...you all run away." It would apply more to a Primarch than to anything else, and even then not really. Also, with "Proto-Marine," if what you meant was that he can pick Veteran Skills, say so. The only Marine special rules are Drop Pod Assault and They Shall Know No Fear. In fact, just give him a couple of Veteran Skills, don't make it changeable mission to mission, it's inconsistent - like, today he's a master siege expert, the next day he's had centuries of experience shooting tanks, the next day he gains magical infiltration abilities. Just keep it immutable for special characters.

Also rethink the name. Gabriel Constantine? You could just keep it as Constantine, it packs less religious references into the one name. You watched Constantine before making this, didn't you? I can tell.

As for the Spear...much too Daemonhuntery. See, before the Heresy, the Imperium had never encountered Daemons, so giving him an anti-Daemon weapon is anachronistic when there were no "thousands of Daemons" for him to banish. Companial Armour could just be artificier armour.

I might make some stats for a Custodes troops squad, later.

Ok, sorry. Can someone delete this thread then? I didn't think this through much...

EDIT: I should point out that not only am I a newbie at this, I also used the Stats for another thread which relied on him being so uber, but I agree that for this thread he might need ot be toned down a bit. The Companial Armour is a way of getting around me wanting him to have an Invul save but not terminator armour. I appricate your constuctive critisism(sp?), but if you got nothing nice to say with a way of helping, don't bother posting.

yyyyeeeaaahhh well apart from whats been said the custodes share the exact same rules n equipment as grey knights it has been in a white dwarf and i think it's mentioned somewhere in the daemonhunters book

so while it may not have sp characters if your going to do a custode army use their rules if i find the white dwarf i will give you the issue number, it shows how to convert custodes and also showcases some gw's custode army in there

Like I said, you could have made Companial Armour count as artificier armour with a 4+ invulnerable save, or else incorporate the save into a special ability. It's a much simpler way of going about things.

Also, yeah...Daemonhunter weaponry includes Nemesis Force Weapons and psycannons and suchlike, so use that as a platform when creating the rules for his weapons. NFW give +2 Strength and count as either regular weapons, power weapons or force weapons, depending on the ability of the wielder.

    Sounds like good stuff!

Ze_Poodle: I didn't watch Constantine last night I was making a guess on his name form fluff I read which named him only as Constantine. I made up Gabrial. The only things I found were the names 'Excelsior' and Constantine Valador. What say the more experienced ones?

No posting of characters/units which are already in existence. As Gabrial Constantine is, however broken, a non-GW sanctioned character, his stats are permissible. How else would people share their homebrewed characters, balanced or not?

Thanks. That puts my mind to rest I'll begin working on an unbroken version of Constantine Valador (His real name).

So what if he is broken, he isn't suppose to be practical but creative. And i think that the 'real' Captain-general would be more powerful then this. Adeptus Custodes are like mini-Primarchs.

Also i pretty sure his name is Constantine Valdor.
