Welcome to Librarium Online!
As seen in the latest WD Online that just came round, seems like GW have made a new Datasheet: 3 x Baneblades!
That should be...immense?
Just thought I'd let all those know who don't get WD Online. For those who don't get the datasheet instore this weekend, it should be up on the website ASAP by the sounds of things.
All can say is that would be insane. Baneblades are powerful enough without a squadron. I think it would require a pretty huge battle before you wanted to put 3 baneblades together rather than spacing them out across the field too. When I fought against 2, they were on opposite sides of the field and that was 10k.
where do i get that datasheet or the wd online link?
Cool! One of the staff in my local store Got 10 Baneblades, a tank company and a warhound titan. He'll love this.
I think you'll find this is a case of "more as we have it".
That sounds very powerful. What I saw is that the ability to merely use the Squadron costs 150 points. That implies that it's quite powerful.
That said, it would appear tome that GW aren't selling enough Baneblades. So, to counter this, they're making them more powerful so more people will want to buy them. I wonder how well this will work.
I totally disagree with that statment. Apoc to me seems to be going back to the Epic second edition way of choosing you units IE datasheets. For those of you who wernt born in 91,92 epic used to use cardboard cards that had all relevent information on it in regards to the unit you wished to use, IE points cost, pictures of the amount of models you needed to make the unit up, and any special rules for it. WOW kinda sounds like datasheets eh? So before we get anymore GW haters saying that they need to sell more models can people please take a few minutes to check into things. We dont need another Gw is evil whinge
And just so you know I had three companys of baneblades at 3 baneblades per company back when I had my epic army, also two shadowsword companys ( they where great at taking out titans once their void shields where down )
FluffMaster on a mission to turn people to the Sisters of battle, yes folks it's all about SoB squads in Repressors with lots of flamer templates for the win.
If you look at Imperial Armour, it says:
"It is clamed that in the past there used to be whole divisions of Baneblades in the Emperor's service, but today an Imperial armyis fortunate to have acompany of three, and more usually ony a single Baneblade will be abailable...The millennia have seen a slow but sure increase in the number of 'counterfeit' Baneblades seeing service in the Imperial Army.'
'These Baneblades, produced by forgew worlds eager to secure large military contracts and trade concessions, do not incorporate all of the avialable STC data that is on Mars and a few other favoured forge worlds."
With the Emperor's Fist, Emperor's Wrath, etc. datasheets that came out with Apocalypse, it only seems natural that, as Baneblade companies obviouly have and do exist in the Imperium, game datasheets for such would be developed.
I'm excited for this, as I will finally have something other than house rules to govern my own Baneblade company. If it makes them stronger, so what? They are rare enough in gaming, and a player that spends the money to buy and the time to build/paint/detail these monstrosities should have the same benefit an actual Imperial commander would have on the battlefield.
So, that being said, where do I find this datasheet!?
As for finding it, if you didn't get it this weekend at GW, or if you don't pick it up this weekend, it'll probably be up on the website. But bear in mind that this is a GW promise, so who knows. Maybe in ten years it'll pop up in a White Dwarf.
wouldn't a baneblade squad be a complete army in it's own right? like i bring 4000 pts being 40 models and you bring 4000 pts being 3 tanks?
i could see that working... don't know how much fun it would be to play though
Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.

Well, on average, a Baneblade squad should only cost about 1750 points, I would think. Sure, you wouldn't be able to field it in anything other than a 3000 point Apocalypse game, but hey! That is what this was made for!
Besides, 1750 points of tanks, plus whatever else you wanted to field in a 3 or 4 thousand point game would still give you a descent army, and would still be a blast to play.
