    5th Edition Box Contents Confirmed

    This is from BOLS

This information brought to the community by Warseer's: chiaroscuros

~Passing this news on in its unaltered form:

According to Games Workshop USA Sales Representative Mark Koscielniak, the new Warhammer 40k 5th Edition Starter Boxed Set will include a “Crap-Ton of miniatures”.

The new boxed starter, due out in September of this year, will include the popular “mini-rulebook”, dice, measuring sticks and the proverbial French “Crap-Ton” of miniatures including:
1– Space Marine Commander (full sprue)
1– Space Marine Tactical Squad (10 models)
1– Space Marine Terminator Squad (5 models)
    1– Space Marine Dreadnought

    AND THAT’S NOT ALL!
    The set will ALSO include:

    1– Ork Warboss
2– Ork Boyz Mobs (20 models total)
1– Ork Nob Mob (5 models)
    3– Death Koptas

The retail price on this tremendous deal will be a ridiculously low $59.99! A quick analysis of the retail value of this set is valued at a cool $262 bucks, and that’s not even counting the retail value of the 3 Death Koptas, the “mini-rulebook”, or the dice!
The new 5th Edition starter will be called “Battle for Black Reach”.
The regular hard cover 5th Edition rulebook is due out in July, with a retail price of $49.99.
Even with this great value, Games Workshop Inc. has instructed their retailers to warn consumers that in order to off-set this incredible value,GW is forced to break the promise of not raising any prices for 5 full years. As a result, all of the GW starters (40k, Fantasy and Lord of the Rings) will now be sold at $59.99, rather than the former $49.99.
Even so, the values of these starters are astounding, as entire armies can be built for the cost of a couple of starters.

    Only $60?

    That's only £30!

Since when did GW become so charitable? ;?

Does sound awfully cheap, although I'm sure $59.99 will translate into £59.99 in the UK!!!

Be interesting to see what kind of sprues they are - if the yare full sprues or whether they are the snap fix types that came with the battle for Macragge set...

Years ago when i got my first box set, it had Black Templars and Dark Eldar...But they had full sprues as well as a full landspeeder and the 40k rule book - that all came to £50 so I look forward with baited breath haha

Ive heard this very same rumour around here before. Im very sure all the models will be snap fit ones so dont get too excited. If they were not all SM and Ork armies would be multiples of this. I also like how the Orks have far less models points wise that the marines.

    Ahh, the favouritism of GW

Reason? Well, in intro games, the beginners will get to play with all the contents of the starter box, meaning the SM will pretty much always win, meaning young kids will be drawn towards SM more! so GW will be happy.

    Damn them...

Yeah they're pretty much sure to be snap fit models, and not terribly good. I guess it depends on whether you think its worth it for the price though, it is a huge saving from buying the better models. I think if you wanted a big army quickly, it'd be the way to go.

I really don't see how this 'value' justifies a price rise though. If it really is so cheap that they can't sustain it without making other things more expensive, why not just raise its price? Its still good value anyway, no point jacking up things that are only marginal value.

And yeah this rumour has been around for a couple months now. Seems pretty solid. I thought last time they released the box before the big book on its own though? If memory serves me right..

Even should the sets be snap fits or whatever ill be still happy to get the whole set of orks and trade my marines for more ORKS ^_^ and Ill be very happy 6 deth koptas, 10 nobs and 40 boys and 2 plastic warboss = Yay for me.

    1– Ork Warboss
2– Ork Boyz Mobs (20 models total)
1– Ork Nob Mob (5 models)
    3– Death Koptas

I think i could beat that space marine force with the orks .

Yeah, I'm gonna go with snap-fit on this one too. They couldn't even justify the price of models now if they were selling them for that - let alone with a price increase!
