Welcome to Librarium Online!
Ok, I was wondering, does anyone have any idea what plans there are for the Black Templars? I mean, if the new marine changes all come down the pipe, I am tempted to go codex and just keep my colors. Sure I would lose Helberecht and Grimmy the Undying Chaplain, and my vows, and my neoph...Oh wait. That would suck. But so would being left behind a-la-Space Puppies(Till recently, if rumors are true). Anyone have any thoughts, rumors, or guesses?
I'm Solid Snake...also, I'm a Primarch.
Apparently the SM only codex's like Dark Angels, Black Templars and the like will be fine, since the new 'dex is coming into line with them. The Black Templars book is a stand alone, so it'll be good for 5th.
All SM codices are stand alones, whatever happens with vanilla marines has no bearing on the other codices until they eventually get there update, GW are going to release an FAQ for every army when 5th is released.
I suspect black templar will probably need a few tweeks to fit with 5th, but they are really blananced, fun and powerfull just as they are. They aren't exactly hugely in need of an update. Of course.... as much as I love my space marines the vanilla codex probably didn't need a huge one either, aside from those traits that were kinda messy and expliotable... and the lack of krak and frags and bolt pistols as a standard... hmm... well, when I see the rumors I'm glad for the update anyway ^_^
Aren't one of the Black Templar named characters in the current codex suppose to be dead, in the fluff I mean? And i'm not talking about that guy that keeps getting up after being killed, its some other guy. I don't know my black templar that well....
Once the new marine codex come down I think the Black templar might become the new space marines of choice. They will be the only one with 2 assault cannon terminators, six man las plas squads, and cheap landspeeders. The drawback will be losing the extra attack on in-squad powerfists which would be down to just one, making it not very good at all. but the other benefits seem to outweigh that.
