I've heard some red and black shirts saying that the wolves will be redone in december, buts thats just red shirts so take what want.

i Heard that Grey hunters will either get uber grit or 5th edition will give true grit a bonus.

Blood claws are supposed to be 10-20 1 special weapon for every 5 guys, furious charge instead of beserker charge.

if you want more stuff go check Codex out in dec! - The Bolter and Chainsword : A 40k Space Marine Resource really big disscussion on the sw rumors

The only issue with that is that all other chapter's green recruits, the scouts, have BOTH WS and BS 4. Apparently native skill with weapons is not required.

The WS3 BS3 was to balance the +2 attacks of the berserker charge. I just cant wait for the new wolf priest. Re-roll wounds with 20 guys and he is going to be and apotecarie as well8X

Not so, Shake. Wolf scouts aren't the newbies striving to prove themselves that other chapters have... They're the hardened Veterans who prefer to operate as lone wolves instead of in packs like most Space Wolves. IIRC, they form an independent cadre of specialist troops who fall under Logan Grimnar's direct control, and he dispatches them along with the great companies as the need dictates.

So far from the green recruits, Wolf Scouts should technically be among the most deadly, independent troops the Space Wolves can field... Not that the rules are likely to ever really reflect that very well.

If an orc boy has WS4 a space marine ANYTHING better be just as good at swinging something in close combat, ESPECIALY a space wolf.

Unless its a servitor... but those aren't really space marines.

Yes, that is how Wolf Scouts roll, but it's not what Mastershake was talking about. He was simply pointing out that in NON-Space Wolf chapters, the Scouts are the green recruits (equivalent to Blood Claws). However, even they have WS and BS of 4...at entry level. A good argument for making Blood Claws WS4 BS4, I think.

I don't think that the Blood Claws lower weapon skill was ever about them being unskilled. I think the idea was that they are so hot headed that they disregard tactics in favor of brute force. It represents that they are throwing caution to the wind and flying in with a high number of brute force attacks and in return they are leaving themselves open. Obviously that is just my interpretation.

Everything I have seen over and over again points to a December release. At the moment the Space Wolf codex is the second oldest and if nothing else deserve an update on that merit alone. Plus we need the power of the Fell-Handed!

Or for making normal Scouts WS3 BS3

According to Bell the new rules were in play test, and that was a while ago. I wouldn't be surprised if the new SW dex is a WD release to coincide with the new SM codex. That said December or next year suits me fine I'm still finishing my IG and I don't have the cash at the moment to build a SW army. The later the better for me.

Default SW Codex

I just started playing SW recently and phoned up the GW Helpdesk to get some things confirmed about what counts as what etc (due to differing points values for CodexM vehicles and fast attack etc). Apparently the new Space Wolves Codex is due out 'next year'.

Nice'n specific.

Also, on the Blood Claws thing, I've played a few games now and realistically, they're not really worth it if you're playing assault. As long as your army is 1.5k take Blackmane and have a shiny assault bodyguard squad instead.

Where they are useful is in the Counter-charge/meatshield role (in a similar fashion that the Tau use Kroot), keep them close to your vehicles and Long Fangs to counter approaching enemy charges.

There is the suggestion floating about too that Grimnar and Blackmane may become 'any size army' units, and that Bjorn the Fel-Handed may make a return, but they're just rumours.

Incidentally, if anyone has any hints and tips on creating a balanced SW army list, please let me know (luckisoneofmyskills@googlemail.com )
