Ok, so I've got my hands on the new book. I guess I can answer a few yes/no/3 bags full type questions if anyone is interested.

I got ahold of it too, I am extremly impressed, though I'm annoyed at how expensive knights are.

Do the Chaos knights cause fear?

Are Forsaken a viable choice?

Is the disc an available mount option for exalteds, or just sorcerers? It would be strange, but amazing, if you could have a flying hitty hero.

Yes, knights cause fear, yes an EC can ride a disk, and no, forsaken are not a viable choice (too many good specials, not enough armour).

All the God specific mounts require characters to have the right mark, so yes. It's still a decent option though, Tzeentch ECs can be pretty damn good combat chars esp and the +1 inv is always nice.

Right, I think the tzeentch ward save will be something thats already big on a hero that is going to fill that role, you would probably want it regardless. Nurgle might be alright, but Khorne and Slannesh probably wouldn't be useful. The big thing you are worried about that a Mark could help with is shooting, and ward saves are win.

In fact, as I said earlier, you probably want to buff out his ward saves as much as possible. Giving this hero the Collar of Khorne, Mark of Tzeentch, and Golden Eye of Tzeentch should give him a 2+ ward against missiles, MR(2), and a standard 5+ ward save against everything else. With a shield, he should also have a 2+ armor save, 1+ in combat. He won't be a destructive juggernaut, but he should definitely be able to take out most warmachine crews, will be solid at marchblocking, and will keep the opponent reacting to you, instead of vice versa.

If you're feeling particularly cheap, you could give him Fury of the Blood God for MR(2), 3+ ward against spells and 6+ against all else. This could be okay if you might expect to face weak shooting, but not too many warmachines (bolt throwers esp), but are afraid of him getting magic'ed down.

Finally, if you are feeling particularly sure that your opponent is fielding a CC army, low shooty and low magic, you could consider taking the Filth Mace and Bronze Armor. This means once you kill a model, you will cause terror, and you will be immune to killing blow, poisoned attacks, and psych, but you can't impart leadership (who cares?).

Just some thoughts on how this guy could be verrry fun.

Giving this hero the Collar of Khorne, Mark of Tzeentch, and Golden Eye of Tzeentch ?

You can give the same model the mark of Tzeentch and a Collar of Khorne?
WTF?

Yep... this has been quite a topic of debate since the new rules have been coming around. Many people think it is unfluffy and cheesy to do so. This is, however, the way the rules are going. You can have a Khorne general with 3 sorcerer heroes, one of nurgle, one of tzeentch, and one of slannesh, if you want. Then you could put the nurgle sorcerer in a tzeentch unit and give him the collar of Khorne. So yeah, it's life.

The way I see it, there is nothing wrong with this, fluffily. The Norsemen are increasingly worshipping the Chaos Gods as a pantheon, rather than monotheistically worshipping one rather than the other. Chaos warriors are striving for the praise of multiple gods. As the largest example, take Archaon. He laid out the example of a warrior exalted by all the Chaos Gods. Heck, he's not just able to join units with whatever marks, his rules, in effect, give him all of the marks.

The other fluff is that these items are trophies. A Tzeentch champion could be using the Collar of Khorne that he took from a Khorne champion that he bested in one on one combat. This kind of challenge is quite common amongst the denizens of chaos.

More than anything, people are resisting this change because it is different, they think evolving the fluff means losing the fluff. It adds more flexibility to the army, and people WILL use it to their advantage. I don't think it's the worst thing in the world to believe that somewhere along the lines a disc riding champion of Tzeentch was able to procure magic items, through hard combat, which allow him to be much more effective at what he wants to do. In fact, this is the definition of survival of the fittest. It makes perfect sense that a hero like this would exist, and would take part in glorious battle. A hero on disc that took no protection with him but his faith may be just as fluffy, but much more likely in reality to get taken out in the history books long before the "battle" that you are playing even happened.

Some food for thought for the "Zomg fluff has been raped" types.
