Welcome to Librarium Online!
Just received thisWonderful news.PRICING UPDATE
As everyone knows costs are going up all over the world, and just like everyone else we are seeing increases in the price of oil, metal, printed materials and transport. Up until now we've absorbed these increases, but the recent and dramatic doubling in the price of tin is simply something we are unable to ignore and therefore some of our prices will be going up too.
As from 29th September 2008 we will therefore be increasing the price of all metal models as well as a selection of other items including most of our books and some accessories including paint.
The good news is that we do not intend to raise the price of our plastic kits at this time which means Games Workshop's plastic range remains excellent value for money for all hobbyists. This has also encouraged us to accelerate our plans for expanding our plastic kit range even more quickly so keep a look out for new projects in the future.
Yeah, but where's the real drama?
Plastics are staying the same and I can give you several examples of how they're actually saving money over metals (DE Cold One Knights, Corsairs, Eldar Dire Avengers, Chaos Terminators, Empire Flagellants.... just off the top of my head).
Books are going up but how many do you buy a year? Most gamers buy maybe 2-3 new books a year?
Modelling tools are getting more expensive? So they'll be more more expensive than other brands? So you'll save more money shopping elsewhere.
Paint is the worst news. That's going to cost me about another $5-$10 per year.
Really this isn't that bad. But I know you web-people love to whine so all I can ask is that you do it inside your own heads.
No more NG spearmen, thanks! Now I need some pump-wagons!
If you guys are content buying only plastic models then thats fine.
Was anything else really going to happen the state of the current world market with all prices seriously rising I'm surprised the price of plastics hasn't gone up as well.
*sees startling parallels between this thread and the one in the General Discussion forum*
*ducks for cover*
Anyways, I said it there, and I'll say it here. Where's the surprise? This is most likely GW trying to attract customers (crazy, but this is one of their business strategies).
Barring that, companies will often increase prices by about 1% a year to account for inflation. GW does it once every 3 years in one big amount. This happened about 3 years ago.
So really, I can't say I'm surprised tbh.
We just closed a thread about GW prices cos people couldn't keep their cool, let's give it some time before we start another one ^_^
Besides, if the purpose of this thread was simply to share the news, as seems to be the case, then it's done
