Space Hulk - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Yea if it's spacehulk and it's limited I'll be very disappointed but to say it's limited doesn't necessarily mean there will only be x amount made it could be that it's only available 4 x amount of months/years Last edited by RhYn0; July 2nd, 2009 at 02:33.

Pfft, I'm still hip. Kind of. Okay, maybe not. The concept looks cool. I'm curious about the "hidden game mechanics" mentioned in the Wikipedia article. The article makes the basic versions of the game sound kind of dull for whoever is stuck playing the genestealers. How many of you folks played it? ---------- EDIT: I just merged the two threads as it seemed best.

I'm not going to froth to quite the degree of Mr Jammer but I have to say that Spacehulk is an awesome game. It was the first GW game I played and one that I've looked back on with favour for many years. It's tense and exciting and is similar to BB in the way that every die roll is important but luck isn't such a massive element as to swing games. It can make good plans more shaky, though. The marine player usually has an objective and the stealer player is trying to prevent them achieving this, rather than having a mission of their own (which was remedied somewhat in some of the later campaigns). I quite enjoyed playing as the genestealers- there's lots of room for wave attacks plus irritating sensor pings that track the marines without ever coming into sight or even just sole stealers lurking in corridors, forcing marines to move cautiously and slow down while more stealers arrive and begin to horde. It really is a top game- the computer games, any of them, do not compare. It is a miniature game for people who aren't into miniature games, too, so it's a great middle ground for non-gamer friends. I'm just a little disappointed that it'll be limited ed, if it really is spacehulk under all that rumour-mongering anyway. EDIT: David- if you don't play it when you get a chance you will deserve actual mocking rather than just mere tutting and disappointed faces.

The game is all about positioning and movement, as soon as the marines bunker down the stealers just build up and build up and squash them. Likewise if you just run for the objective you'll get picked off - it's a kind of a rolling standoff with the players trying to knock each other out of position. I was never fond of the expanded rules for it to be honest - hybrids with guns, psychic powers, etc. They just bogged the game down.

Deathwing, the first supplement, had larger floor tiles and added the assault cannon and CC weapons, i think. Genestealer, the second supplement, went a bit far. If the rerelease is simply the original game (or something very similar) then I'll be happy enough to mangasm.
