Hybrids with guns? what madness is this?

I thought there were 2 releases, both called space hulk.

The first had AWFUL 1 piece plastic terminators
The second had the old multipart plastic ones and had 3 campaigns

I got the second one. When did these expansion packs come out? before the rerelease? It had a dark angels campaigne but no assault cannons.

Really going to have to pick up a copy of this. REALLY hope it is not limited edition as I cannot afford to buy this before xmas and pay for wedding!

There were two expansions for the first (crappy terminator) version but I think a lot of the material kind of missed the point of the game.

I've seen a bit of the 2nd edition but not played it - from what I understand it was dumbed down a little, which I find odd give how simple the original game was to grasp.

There were two editions of Spacehulk. The first one had the two expansions for it and a campaigns book. The 2nd edition had no expansions, I think, except maybe a campaigns book. There wasn't a lot of difference between the two except for an change in floor tile quality, the way the flamer worked and the removal of the timer. It also had special "shooting dice" instead of regular D6 and had much improved plastic termies.

If the new version takes the best of both it will be fantasic. If it doesn't, then I'll just pick and choose which version rules I'll apply.

I don't think I could have said this any better myself.

my girlfriend and i was talking. i hinted that the new space hulk should be out late this year. then she ask if that is the video game a play on and off. after i told her and she seemed interested. then i hinted that is what i wanted for xmas. she said earlier this year no warhammer 40k stuff. im pretty sure im getting space hulk for xmas or my birthday if its out by early September .

she plays warhammer 40k also from time to time and i keep telling her about the plans i have to build a space hulk. she wants to try it out also. so if she gets it itll be more for her and me.

worship the space hulk

I always preferred Space Crusade to Space Hulk, but SH is a good game. If the rumour's true I'm really pleased that Games Workshop is making a move back to board games.

Wasn't Space Crusade based on the Space Hulk board-game?

If my memory serves me right, Space Crusade was a game originally released for the Amiga back in the 80's, while Space Hulk was released as a board game

While writing this post I decided to do some research, and just to show my ignorance, I'll let the above stand, while I write this:

Space Crusade was indeed a board-game, much like Hero Quest.

Anywho! I look forward to a new edition of Space Hulk. The old was great fun!!

Not quite. They've just got a licensing deal with Fantasy Flight Games, which is a good thing. FFG does a great job with customer service, FAQs, and the actual product.

Rumours are refining! BoLS now reports a much more feasible 10 marines, 20 stealers (same as the original numbers) plus suggestion of a Terminator Librarian and/or Broodlord. The mutterings about a limited edition are also growing, sadly.

There's some suggested cross-over between 'hulk and this 'big box mystery' thing that's going on, too. One lot of rumours suggests August (for the mystery box) and one lot September (Spacehulk). I personally believe they are two seperate products with two seperate release dates.

EDIT: Apparently the mystery box has a shipping date in September so that's murkied the waters a bit...
