Welcome to Librarium Online!
This is just a brain fart, but is games workshop letting armies fall? I certainly hope not and that somebody tells me that I have it all wrong, but it sounds logical.
Certain armies *cough* Dark Eldar *cough* haven't been revisited for a really long time, and they are just not making profit on them anymore. The same is for Deamonhunters, they start producing less miniatures. And as games-workshop is a company, they just want to take every thing out of the armie, so they don't tell the hobbiests "We will be quit making models for Dark Eldars" but they just let them buy the stuff.
I really hope they wont do those, because it would be kinda shabby (seen as the most of the staff plays the game to) but it could happen. Any thoughts (inside information would be perfect).
And lets pray to Mork they didn't fall that far
Dont anger the dragon, he'll let it rain on you all day long. :P
FYI, though a release date has not been confirmed, the Dark Eldar are being updated with a new codex and models. Many of the GW folks mentioned this at various Gamesday location. An estimate is that it will be sometime mid-late 2010.
(WH40K) Dark Eldar - (12,000pts) Sisters of Battle - (5000pts) Dark Angels -(3500pts) (WHFB) Dark Elves - (10,000pts) Beastmen - (5000pts) Empire - (3000pts) Wood Elves - (1500pts)
Eldar, I believe, have copywrite issues.. This is why GW have enormous trouble releasing anything with the word Eldar in it, it's also why they got so rabid about intellectual property from then on. I'm sure there'll be a DE Codex at some point, even just in PDF.
At worst, they'll probably do a Chaos Dwarves where they suspend the army model range and codex but release PDF rules so people can still play with their armies or convert them. No matter how badly they're doing sales wise, DE aren't Squats. Squats were scrapped because the design team just didn't want to write stuff for them and didn't feel they worked.. DE do work and have successfully established a niche.
I actually think the Inquisition armies have more to worry about.. Even there, in the long term, I think there'll usually be something. Even the lost and the damned concept of human/mutant chaos worshippers is likely to be revisited one day.
Why on earth does Eldar have CW issues? lol
As an aside, i wouldnt be too surprised if eventually all 40K armies were just different variations on space marines All the aliens vanish due to being ignored when GW are writing army books and all we're left with are hundreds of different SM chapters
Create flames for a galaxy and it will be warm. Put a galaxy in flames and it will be warm for the rest of it's existence.
Could be wrong though.. That is, as the name of this forum suggests, a rumour.
I think that Daemonhunters and Witch hunters may end up merged together. They were thinking about an Alienhunters book but that has not been seen. The three Inquisiton armies could be merged into one force with things like Grey knights becoming special units or a separate list in the book. Alot of the units will work fine for any of the Inquistion Ordos. SOB, Death cultists, Assassins and Archoflagellants could all work for any group. SOB like cleansing aliens as much as they do Heretics.
Chaos Dwarves have also been mentioned (maybe not in this thread)- it's worth remembering that Chaos Dwarves never had an army book. They only had collected WD articles that could be used as an army list.
I can't think of a single example in the last 10-15 years where a fully released army was later dropped.
No more NG spearmen, thanks! Now I need some pump-wagons!
