Welcome to Librarium Online!
Always one to follow the next best thing in miniatures, thought i'd share this.
Mantic Games is a brand new plastic miniatures company and they recently released their Kings of War range. The first race for Kings of War is the Elves, and there are 13 plastic boxsets with the releases of new Bowmen and Seaguard regiments this week.
Mantic Games is all about bringing fun and playing games with massive armies, so they are not only cheap, but each boxset comes in it's own reusuable DVD-style carry case lined with foam and the miniatures can snap together to test poses and create an easy fit.
Miniatures in the range include spearmen, bowmen, spearguard (a combination of the spearmen and bowmen sprues), bolt throwers and scouts, all at a truescale 28mm. Future releases over the next couple of month include cavalry and Palace Guard, as well as the releases of several metal models, including the Elven King and his Consort, and Elven Battle Heroes, currently only available in the Elven Cohort box. The next race is hot on their heels as well, so expect them at the end of the year, or the start of the next.
The Elves are slender, well armoured and very dangerous. They are but the first of many Mantic products being releases over the coming year.
I'm trying to decide if you're a bot...
No more NG spearmen, thanks! Now I need some pump-wagons!
Nope I'm just spreading the love. I like the fact that there is more choice in the market other than just GW. There is no mention of Mantic on this forum, so I thought I'd change that.
The writing probably seems very mechanistic, I just hadn't had my coffee this morning
got a sample pair of these with an AOBR set we ordered and the models are pretty nice.
they seem really dinky compared to GW models though, guess thats truescale vs heroic scale though
less hate more kittens
The scales do differ slightly from GW elves but they look decent designs and the price is certainly attractive. I look forewards to the undead that are aparently the next army to be done.
I also see from the Mantic blogg that Bob Naismith is one of the figure designers. I have a few of the old pre slottabase citadel elves designed by him from the early 1980s.
Quorn! - Protein for the Protein God.
Looks like a very cool mini designer. Can't wait to see their other armies. The sculpts look very nice, especially for the price.
cheers on the find,
Black Templar (W/D/L): 4/6/2
Dark Eldar (W/D/L): 4/1/0
Warriors of Chaos (W/D/L): 3/0/1
These look really cool, have sweet cases, and good prices to boot.
Is Mantic going to be making multiple new races and then have new rules for this or is there another use for these models? Can they be used in other games?
Aye, there the same height as the GW elves (minus the pointy hats XD), but thinner and skinnier. Trying to look like an Elf and not a human with pointy ears.they seem really dinky compared to GW models though, guess thats truescale vs heroic scale thoughThis is true. The design and art for the undead will be revealed at Maelstrom Games' Eye of the Storm event on the 7th November if anyones interested. I'll be there.I look forewards to the undead that are aparently the next army to be done. They'll be a number of races yeah. People are speculating on it being dwarves or orcs afterwards but who knows (actually, I do XD)? A neat feature is that there are hints on the sprue for the next army, so the Undead sprue will point as to what's next.Is Mantic going to be making multiple new races and then have new rules for this or is there another use for these models? Can they be used in other games?
These models can be used with all existing rulesets, though naturally GW might frown upon you if you took them to them into a store. I think it'd be fun though XD But no, nothing stopping you in collecting these models as a high elf army (or dark elf or wood elf) for instance.
Someone even speculated in converting them to Eldar! No news on Mantic releasing rules at the moment however.Hehe, nah. I do know him though....You're not Ronnie are you?
I think using some of the components might be nice, but I quite like the High Elf range as it stands, APART from teh plastics. And those archers don;t look too out of place vs my High Elf 5th edition unarmoured archers...
