Incoming! Battle Missions
Coming in March, Battle Missions is a brand-new supplement for Warhammer 40,000 that expands on the basic missions found in the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook. Each of the thirty-something scenarios detailed in Battle Missions has been designed to allow you to fight the sort of battles normally the subject of Black Library novels. From daring raids and assassinations, to breakthroughs and last stands, Battle Missions will allow your army to play in a way that reflects its background. No matter what Warhammer 40,000 army you collect this exciting new supplement will open up a whole new gaming experience.
Of course it just wouldn't be the same if there weren't some great new miniatures to fight through these missions with. Fortunately, there will be new sets for Space Marines, Orks and the Imperial Guard released alongside Battle Missions in March.
Yeah I just got this as well.
I only hope they include fluff reaasons for each race to do some of the missions. Ie Tyranids.
Otherwise, hooray more missions.
Although, what ork models are left to be made, Nob Bikers?(Then again easy conversion anyway) Plastic meganobz!?! God I hope so.
Not dead, just sleeping
Flash gits maybe? Possibly a new vehicle (looted wagon?). Guard. I guess, will be more tanks, hopefully some artillery. Maybe penal legions. Maybe expansions on metal model ranges like vostroyans/valhallans etc.
Space marines leaves me puzzled though, what is there still to do in their codex? Do they have all their special characters yet?

More likely you'll see new models for using the supplement, like the scenery that came out with Cities of Death, or the bastions and other defensive systems that came out with Planetstrike.
Maybe they'll have some sort of series of "objective markers" or "wounded officers" or stuff like that.
This sounds like the book JJ was talking about at Conflictcotland.
It was (and may still be) his pet project, and he was very enthusiastic about it.
As I recall, The plan was to have race specific missions, 3 missions per race, for a total of 30.
When rolling up a game, player 1 has 1,2,3. player two has 4,5,6. then you roll for the mission.
Things like "Beachhead" or "Surgical Strike" for Marines, or "Slave Raid" for DE.
As I recall, every mission was an objective mission of some sort.
The victory conditions were themed to the mission.
"i am a leaf in the wind, see how i soar"
If it adds a lot of nice scenario's I'm all up for it.
this sounds cool, I am particularly interested in the new minis
Hmm... could it be that GW has finally come up with a supplement I'll want to buy?
Naaaaah... couldn't be. This is GW, after all.
So they put a few generic missions in the rulebook, missions that are simple and enjoyable but not anything special.
They had tons of nice fun special missions on their website and popping up in WDs for their loyal fans, now what?
WD is now just a gaming catalogue with the new army gathering hype by winning a battle against an incompetant player with a weak list.
They removed most of the quality articles from their website and discontinued black gobbo a number of years ago. They have their daily advertisement article but that's far from quality.
So where did all of their good idaes go? Their narrative missions? New things to try? Oh they're over there, on a shelf for $30.

i'm pretty new to the hobby (2 years now) but I have to disagree slightly Kevin, at least about the WD and website comments. I don't know what they removed that was there in the past, but I actually like many articles in recent WD's and I love the masterclasses that they do now. I don't care about battle reports casue I only do the hobby part of GW, so I guess that makes me automatically a bit more leanient. It's true, there are too many ads in there and meaningless 2-page pictures with prices but somehow I still get happy when the new issue arrives and I actually enjoy reading many articles.
Also, the website has a lot of cool articles, they're usually painting/modelling (which is good for me) but I've seen many extra ones like campaigns, tacticas etc. I don't know about the gaming aspect of the expansions, but the models that came with them are fenomenal and the expansions sound good gaming-wise also, but I won't comment on something I haven't played.
The new book also sounds cool.
Either way, everyone has their own opinion so cheers.
