Just got this form GW--
This April the Blood Angels will be re-launched with an all-new Codex and range of plastic and metal miniatures. One of the oldest and noblest of all Space Marine Chapters, the Blood Angels have stood fast against the enemies of the Imperium since the Great Crusade and it was their Primarch Sanguinius, who laid down his life to aid the Emperor against Horus in the final hours of the Warmaster’s rebellion. The new Codex explores the background and history of these superhuman warriors like never before, and contains new artwork depicting some of their greatest battles and most powerful champions.
The Blood Angels have always been a powerful close combat army and have been made even deadlier thanks to a range of specialist wargear, the ability to field Assault Squads as Troops choices, and more Dreadnoughts than any other Space Marine Chapter, including a Death Company Dreadnought and the fabled Furioso Dreadnought. The Sons of Sanguinius will be deep striking onto a tabletop near you this April – now’s the time to practice painting red.
I got the email too, bit early for april fools, so hopefully it's true.
Nothing against the blood angels but it would really have been nice to go a cycle without seeing a space marines codex.
/sigh. I guess BA are cool for the people that want them, but that means 3 more months before a real army's codex comes out. Like Dark Elder D:
I am verbose. Sorry.
Kargh's Wite Butz, Death Skullz Orks: W: 5, L:, 2 D:2; Silver-skull Necrons: 1W 1L,500 pt
I'm bummed that it's not a DA/BA codex
I was really hoping for a 2 birds with 1 stone release
Why would it be a DA/BA codex?
'Thou shalt not refer to the Adeptus Soritas as "Bolter Bitches" nor shalt thou go anywhere near our sisters during the time of the "Red Rage," lest thou wishes to be the first human to enter orbit without the aid of a shuttle.'
They have been released as an "angels" codex before. I was a little surprised but not too surprised as they are very different codex styles these days, with DA having 2 or 3 various army subsections in them as well (deathwing, ravenwing).
Still annoyed it isn't DE though. Where's our pdf replacement codex!?
http://www.armyroster.com Check out my ToP WIP in the projects section!
Did anyone really think that there would be an "angels" codex? They just want you to buy both of the books and have another excuse for more space marine launches. Well I guess some new models would be cool, they better be good though...
finally! a new blood angels codex perhaps my characters will actually kill something with all this new wargear however, i do agree that other armies shoudl be before them but... tough luck to them, anyway its been far more time since blood angels actually got an entire book released for them
Oh Mrkilley, as if it's been far more time since blood angels got an entire book release.
Last proper book they got was in 1998, Dark Eldar was also in 1998, Necrons were in 2002, Witch Hunters were in 2003 and Daemonhunters were also 2003. All those other armies didn't get a free codex update at any time, let alone within the past 3 years, nor did they get any updates for 5th edition (which the Blood Angels pdf did).
Sure, a pdf is definately not as good as a whole book, but it's a damn sight lot better than nothing for 6 or more years.
I'll have a browse through it at least though, cos I still haven't painted my Space Hulk Termies and could do with some pointers. I still think that it's a shame that other 3rd edition only armies are getting put on the back burner and would gladly pick up a whole army of Xenos in a heartbeat rather than buy even more than a handful of marines in any colour.
