Welcome to Librarium Online!
Dark Eldar should be up for their new codex before too much longer right? Any ideas when 'too much longer' might be?
Technically they were up at bat a while ago, when the coach told them to sit back down and allow everyone else to take another turn.
There is absolutely no information out there that's solid, everything's rumors. Currently, BA are up this spring. I'd expect either 1 or 2 more codices by the end of the year. Here's to hoping its one of them. That being said, rumors are also abounding about DA, BT, Inquisition, Grey Knights, Sisters, Necrons, and there have even been some rumblings about Eldar and Tau.
On the plus side, if Eldar get one, then so will Dark Eldar too probably. Conventional wisdom seems to be that GW will release together in order to get the "Good Eldar" "Bad Eldar" thing together. When that will be...anytime between this year and the year 42000.
Hopefully anywhere between now and 2012.. because, after then it wont matter any more.
Rumour has it that the entire model range has been sculpted, but they're wary of releasing it with a new codex for the fact it would basically flood their new releases for months as there's so much of it.
Add salt to taste and preference.
Considering that GW made a comment to the effect of there won't be reprints of the Daemonhunters and Witch Hunters Codices either they're out altogether or they're up for a new codex soon. Maybe they're [DH,WH] gonna get pushed in after BA?

Oh noes! Another DE thread?
Sorry for sounding stingy about this, but there are a LOT of DE question threads being started up all asking the same question; "When are the DE being released?". There's quite a few threads started on this subject all over the web on this...
I know your so excited about the looming date of DE,
I know it's taking too long and I imagine that GW are making a good job of the Codex and mini's (Rome wasn't built in a day ya know ),
I know that you're worried about another bloody delay to GW's Codex release schedule.
At the moment, there's nothing to be confirmed apart from some concept miniatures at past Games Days and a new piece of artwork released about a year ago to whet your appetite, when something pops up in the rumour mill you'll know soon enough, there's just nothing to report yet.
Does anyone remember how 3rd Edition Space Hulk went down? GW kept it quiet and said "It's a £60 Mystery box" then unleashed it at the last moment, which psyked everybody up into a spending frenzy. The same now applies to the DE and how long exactly did DE fans wait for this? 11 years? Only a portion of GW fanbase are actually fans of the DE, worse, a small portion. GW is biding their time with this to re-design the entire range of DE as well was the codex, they've got to make it "The next big thing" to make it worthwhile for them to make a profit out of this, not just some loose change .
Forgive me, but saying "Where's the Dark Eldar coming? Bleh-Bleh-Bleh" won't get you anything fresh. When we know, you'll know. That's the fact.

I am currently focused on fantasy and nothing else...what would bring part of my interest back towards 40k? why a Dark Eldar update of course!
But its not going to happen...and believe me i hate to say it.
I googled "dark eldar update" and found a thread with people SWEARING that updated de was right around the corner, that thread was from 2006!!!!
I cannot think of any logical explanation as to why GW would just not tell anyone anything if they actuall were working on/had made progress on the DE. I believe they are waiting for everyone just to forget about them, and let thim slip into the past like squats.
I have been involved with Warhammer for 8 years (god i feel old...only 21 lol) and i have never seen GW bring back a dead or semi retired force, or ever for that matter seen them not say anything about something they ACTUALLY plan on working on in the near or far future...their silence says everything.
I HOPE I'M WRONG. for the record.
(i think one reason they were retired in the first place was because they were to "mature" for the young fanbase GW loves to focus on...i mean DE had it all, sadistic sex, slaves, even combat drugs...hence my love for them)
(oh, one more thing, this fear on GW's part about having material too mature for young kids i believe was displayed when they got rid of the imo beautiful deamonette models, and replaced them with the ugly, non-nude models we have now)
If I had to make a guess, I'd peg them as a pre-Christmas release. Then all the new DE players will buy all the new models and GW will make tons of money. They'd probably have done it last year if not for SW.
I've always figured Dark Eldar to be in need of a real revamp; a reinvention if you will. I always figured more slave fighters and creatures, less combat Eldar.
Bad Eldar just don't cut it for me, there's got to be something more to them than that.
