I posted this in the Beastmen forum, but since it contained 8th ed stuff, thought it might be worth putting it here too...G'day guys,
Word on the street is the Beastmen book was written at the same time as the 8th ed core rules, so they will become much more powerful once that comes out!
For example, there's a whisper that Magic might come before movement - Imagine what you could do with Bestial Surge if that happened! 1st turn Ghorgon charge....
Also, ranked infantry are said to become much more powerful, which not only explains why they switched to Gor and Ungor as ranked, but might bring Bestigor into their own with their Despoilers rule....
We've waiting this long for an army book...now we wait for 8th ed! Curse GW for all the waiting, but it'll be worth it!
This news makes me sad. As much as I like having infantry, I also like the breaks of monsters, creatures, war machines, hero and what not. All of these things end up costing enough points to make one or more blocks of infantry because they have a chance of changing the coarse of battle, but with this, it will seem there is no point to taking your favorite monster, heroes and what not because now you can just have even more models on foot. These rules seem like the would do unremarkable damage to some armies like Ogre Kingdoms. I'm sure the Dark Elf players will be thrilled to hear that Hydras are soon to be useless now. Or Daemon Players will find out that they can never field any greater daemons ever again if they want to win.
And Magic before movement? Well, that trashes magic missile spells (which happen to be my favorite.)
All in all, these rules make me excited form my Beastmen and Goblin armies, but makes me weep for my Ogres and Daemons.
Not sure i like the idea of magic before movement, would take some getting used to.
Ranked units becoming stronger would be great. Dark elfs and Daemons becoming weaker would make tournaments much more open. If this rumour is true my fellow Empire generals and I will be partying into the night on release day.

True. What I heard about infantry is something like there will be no limit to the amount of static res they can get...so the bigger the better Time will tell here though.
And when you think about it, it's a good way to balance out some of the Cav that popped up in 7th ed - Chaos Knights will crush almost all blocks of troops on the charge head on, causing fear, etc....
I would seriously doubt they will be switching phases around. Too many core mechanics, spells and abilities revolve around being balanced based on that foundation. What I would view as more likely is that they alter the rules of charges and charge reactions. It could be as simple as saying that if a unit makes contact with an enemy unit through compulsory (stupidity)/over run/or magic movements the action is counted as a charge.
The only honorable options left to we combatants is seppuku or semantics...which amount to the same thing really.
another rumor to feed the mill care of warseer - the idea of bringing back %'s to army comp like we had back in 4/5th ed...
the basic layout that's been popping up is;
i hope this one is just some VC hater wishlisting a way to allow them to win every they play, since capping the pts allowed on characters kinda makes vamps completely unplayable - especially when it's only 25% max!!! (yay, i get a character in every game now...)
while i can't ever see this happening, if it does, i know where my vamps are going, and it's nowhere near a gaming table! it would also hurt tomb king players alot more as well, since they're just as dependent on their characters to function...
well, i'd say take this one with entire salt flats, but i figured i'd throw it out and see what everyone thinks of the idea itself,
I guess your right Bonzi, but I just find to often that my Blood Thirstier (Or other large monster) just can't really fight blocked anything with my luck. Now I know not to run your monsters in to large or well fighting blocks (or blocks with great weapons) but I will find I will run him into something small or insignificant that he should be able to blow through, then being completely stopped in his tracks so that the next round of combat is that every unit within range jumps in on the combat and drowns him alive.
Also I think % would be epic fail beyond repair. Also, I don't see why Special would get the 50% when it would make more sense (to me at least) to have it on the Core. I find it hard to imagine an armies' elites would outnumbers its common troops. I mean, they are called "Core for a reason."
Percentages would screw over the high elf alternative unit caps too. They're supposed to have more elite troops than anyone else, but the current codex could not possibly account for it. Although being able to take 5 RBTs at 2000 would be awesome.
High Elves: Tournament W/D/L - 6/5/5
Maybe they would have different percentages for each army?
