Okay, so I do not have any pictures but today the box for the new Warhammer Fantasy box set came into my local GW while I was there. The manager of the store let everyone pretty much see what was in the box and I can tell you the stuff is amazing. The griffon is litterally a whole sprue, it's huge and it looks phenominal. If I guessing the wings are probably a good 5-6 inches long on each side, and the body of the griffon is no smaller then the Krok-gar model. The Mage on the sprue is pretty cool too as it's floating on some fire or something, but still very detailed. The swordmasters are much like the Space Hulk minis in that each one I saw had some different iconography on them but they still looks crazy cool. I didn't get to peek to much at the skaven stuff but it's pretty amazing stuff. I hope some other people got to see them today as well, and maybe took a snap shot of the stuff.

Wow it's being released in September and you saw them when they opened the box? That's like... two months before release, it's just about the right time for the GW Stores to recieve them actually .
From what you said, we've got a HE Griffon model that takes up an enitre sprue and possibly 10 Swordmasters, the HE Mage is what is confusing me ATM as to whether it's mounted on the Griffon or on foot. We're talking about ~500 points worth of stuff here thats without any Core choices to be tossed in there to make it legal, this would make the HE army at the points range of around 700-800 points, GW must have some packaging ideas up their sleeves if they want to fit roughly the same sized army to make the starter set's contents "fair", the mini-rulebook (bound to be bigger than the current one), starter booklet, some or no scenery, dice and templates.
Couple of questions: How big is the box, bigger than the AoBR/BFSP sets?
And, How much is the cost?
Shame about not getting any pictures, but I'm also glad that you didn't as this could result in some job losses around GW .
Okay sorry, i didn't explain that right i guess. the Mage is on foot, and is floating on some fire like the ones you get now(him standing on rocks or the metal ones on the elemental). The griffon and his prince were together on a sprue. There are some spearmen in the box, but the other thing i didn't mention was that this box didn't have the art and everything on it, cause i didnt think it mattered. It was just a regualr shipping box about the size of the actual intro box and it only had 4 sprues in it, so it was no way all the minis but it was some of them. Anyways, gonna go there today and try to get a picture of the stuff.
The trick I usually use to get sneak pics at new stuff is to find the staffer who plays Tau Empire, pick-pocket his keys and toss them to the other end of the floor . As the staffer's are running around trying to pick them up with their mittens and the rest of the customers are distracted by the rather pathetic display of the staffers, you'll have 5 minutes to take some piccies of the sprues and then sneak out of the front door, not a second more otherwise the Jervis Johnson/Matt Ward combo will appear out of nowhere and hurl their "Prised Rulebooks of unholy hurt" at you.
Here's a banana, for when the time comes you'll know what to do...
There's a thread that's been going a while on Warseer, it looks like their trying to get some photographic evidence to go with their "eye-witness accounts" which surprisingly quite a few people have seen in GW's mysterious Black Box. There's the thread, if any of you guys want to pass the time.
May the Emperor protect you Palos
Big fat rep cookie is waiting for you if you manage it
HAHA, ninja in a green shirt! So I went in today and the manager was busy painting a table, and the other associate was busy helping a customer leaving me free to snoop arround. I had called earlier in the day and asked if it was coo for me to come look at the minis and they said yah, so when I got there, he even took out the box of unbuilt ones too, so I got some photo's of acouple of the frames. Basically used my camera phone to snap fast shots so they kinda suck. But it atleast gives you a decent look at the griffon, as for the rest of the models, i'll tell you what I saw
okay so the store recieved 4 sprues. 1 pretty much had all the griffon and the mage on it, and is the one u see pretty much empty. There was 5 Sword Masters, 8 Lothern Sea Guard, 4 Elyrian Reavers. For the skaven side, there is 2 rat orges, some clanrats, a warp-lightning thrower(think thats the name), plague morter, a warlord or whatever who is really freaking spiff he looks almost exatcly like Queek with the jumping pose and two hand weapons, and a warlock engineer.
