GW is going to produce a set of contingent rules which includes at least 5 new factions with model support. They will be allied to destruction / Order. This will not affect the release schedule for future army books.
Here are the rumors relevant to specific contingents
Each contingent to have 3-4 units 1-2 characters
There is a long standing joke in the studio about the next release being fishmen. However tidbits about undersea creates continue to build up in the books (lizardmen book, sea creature rules in BR. And on models (dark elf corsairs/special character)
Fire Belly Shield motif on latest ogre kingdom model may be clue about insectizoid race. Insect race also mentioned in the Ogre book, possible some fluff reference to kuresh or ind somewhere as well
Hinted at not being in the forces of destruction
Rumored to be White Dwarf Only
Have a character that removes negative effects of opposingly aligned allies
Pike units and pike plus crossbow units
Cavalry Using Old Sculpts with New Models
Re-releasing old sculpts in fine cast
New Ice wizard model
New unit of arquebus
something that will be in the book, not yet identified
Will have 2 Cavalry units, 2 infantry units, 1 monstrous infantry unit, and 1 hero
Camel janissaries/ long barreled gun powder cavalry
Araby Wizard with Harem Guard
Djinn (see araby dread fleet boat)
Elemental Type unit for four basic elements with fancy names (e.g. Fire Efreets), presumably the Djinn would fit in here.
Dogs of War/ Tilea
Tilians will get a WD list but will not make it into the book.
Tileasn will get units for duelists, pikemen, crossbowmen, heavy cav, and a wizard with a new poison lore
No specific rumors other than Forgeworld being told to stop making new ones. This could potentially mean that they are being reserved for some sort of future GW development, or not, we'll see.
It is believed that WE's and BRETS are to get a SHARED army book. Weird.
Although I highly like these rumours and I do NOT doubt your credibility for but i'll have to see some sources before I believe anything.
it'd be just getting my hopes up otherwise *dreams of using his dogs of war army again in the manner it was intended* I like being able to paint any model I like and have it fight for giggles and coin.
Come see my Necrons, Space Marines, Dwarfs, Orks, Goblins and anything else I feel like painting at my blog: http://modelminiaturepainting.blogspot.com/
This is all just three months out apparently, but the big problem I have with it is - next year is busier than this one, and something has got to give. There just isn't enough time for everything.
Tilean Wizard with the poison lore is Lucrezia Belladona. The de-facto ruler of Pavona.
Ok so i stubbled upon thisthread and was mildly interested in the idea of both the insects and fishmen
Insects i can see be very much like skaven but with better and more variation of models personally i hope they do a ladybird model, how annoyed is someone gonna get when you kill them off with with a ladybird!
the fishmen i can see being designed something along the lines of the warcraft 3 Fishmen army lots of gangly bits around the face that are quite likely to break off but still should be really nice models.
the idea of brets and woodelves sharing a book just seems stupid and unnessercery
everything else i'm not that botherd about
The Brettonians and Wood Elves are getting their own books, no combining the two. I do now know where this rumour originated.
I just want my goblin hewer back.
Personally I like some of these rumours and dislike some others. First of all, may I ask where you got these info?
I'd welcome the return of Chaos Dwarfs and especially of DoW, but I'm not that fond of the idea of overcomplicating things with many more playable races (especially fishmen and insects). The idea of "side contingents" rules itself doesn't appeal that much personally. And Estalia should be incorporated in Dogs, I think it would be silly to have two different races that basicly do/look the same.
A joint army book for Brets and Woodies sounds kinda silly...why would they do that?? And just if, what would it be called? "Bretonnia and the Forces of Loren" or something? I'd really rather not see something like that!
My two cents,
My project log: High Elves (and other stuff actually, but mainly High Elves).
Last update 1 Sept 2011
what i want was full armys not side contingents thats what appealed to me as the 5 armies i have access to i'm not exactly liking the look of any others but the possibilities with insects and fishmen just seem too appealing for me not to want them lol
Thats my thoughts on them i could go into alot more detail but i'm just too lazy to type that lot out
I find it in various places both online and offline. I discuss it with a couple of folks in the know and if they don't tell me it isn't true then I share it.
Can't say anymore on this ok? What I can say is that there must be some truth to it because Jvk is "fleshing out the bones" (which is what usually happens and he's got an awfully good track record at being 100% right about things).I personally don't believe the fishmen thing - but the insects I do. As for CD's, Forgeworld have ceased development (which is strange because they're in fantasy equivalent of DKK in sales terms right now).I'd welcome the return of Chaos Dwarfs and especially of DoW, but I'm not that fond of the idea of overcomplicating things with many more playable races (especially fishmen and insects).I dis-agree. I think it adds more flavour, particularly to the old world/Empire. I like the idea of mercenaries. Estalia will be included in dogs I believe. The idea of "side contingents" rules itself doesn't appeal that much personally. And Estalia should be incorporated in Dogs, I think it would be silly to have two different races that basicly do/look the same.
I must point out that all the contigents mentioned above are in dogs of war/contingents book (and much as I refer to it as "Dogs of War" - there's NO WAY it's going to be called that!).
Dogs of war = Warhammer: Allied Contingents.I agree. But that's what I keep hearing from three very different sources.A joint army book for Brets and Woodies sounds kinda silly...why would they do that?? And just if, what would it be called? "Bretonnia and the Forces of Loren" or something? I'd really rather not see something like that!
My two cents,
