Welcome to Librarium Online!
I have just had a look at the articles to see the "how to paint dark angels robes" bit cause i would like to know but just having a look there is only ONE article left in the whole paint section of articles so i had a bit of snooping and there seems to be about a quarter of the articles there once were. i can understand the gaming and a bit of the collecting (due to 4th and apocalypse etc etc) but painting and modelling surely not... just surprised is all so what are your views on this?
If you'll allow me to don my super-cynical hat for a moment...
It honestly doesn't surprise me. Articles you can read for free on the internet don't make them any money. Kind of echoes the way White Dwarf has gone, to be honest - it used to be all cool articles and stories, painting guides and useful tips, and now it's just another glorified catalogue.
However, cutting them a bit of slack... When they changed over to the global website system, I think a lot of the articles (which might have been only on one particular region's webpage) didn't make it through to the new one. I don't expect to see them all back but I thought some of the old articles I'd seen had been filtering through on to the new site, occasionally. Maybe it's just a case of them updating the articles for an army when they actually update the army, though?
There are tons of painting guides around the net. Don't be afraid to use unofficial guides, some are much more detailed than the GW guides. You could also check out their How To paint books, although its really filled more with painted minis than instructions. There are also some great lines of videos too. Privateer Press did a set of them and there are more at thewarstore.
Believe me, there is no lack of painting tutorials on the internet haha.
