first of the "monorail" you talking about are bullet trains in japan which are mentioned above. and you wouldnt actually need large engines to move a space ship even if it is 100 miles long,
there is no gravity or friction in space, in theory you could push start it, although you will move in the opposite direction to it and it would move verry very slowly

Now see you got it wrong again, the Bullet is actually the world's first HST, it's not a monorail at all, the monorail train is a Maglev JR, and is under development by the Central Japan Railway Company and the Railway Technical Research institute.
And while you don't have friction in space you still have mass, Newton's law comes into play, to move that mass you need an equal amount of thrust, or it just won't move. It's called Inertia. Friction just means you need more thrust to overcome it.

Ok sorry to burst any bubble but it doesnt matter whether its a train or a monorail, the technology is the point where the are using magnetic forces to make it "hover" but it relys on the fact that the track undernether it is a constant charge (ie either positive or negative)

Think we're going a bit off topic here.

Back on topic guys. If you want to talk about trains, take it somewhere else.

Sorry, my point is that to have antigrav you have to start somewhere, and once you conquer that, it's onwards and upwards, you only need to apply the same basic principal to the idea, it just means learning how to 'oppose' the planet's polarity, since 2 magnets set right will push each other apart, a planet still works the same way, it has poles, and each has a slightly different magnetic force, once you can work out how, you can use some kind of special magnet to overcome that, and presto, antigrav engines and anything (and I do mean anything) could be made to fly.

I'm fairly sure my plastic models fly because I mount them on a clear plastic flying stand to make it look like they're hovering in place. I don't use magnets or any sort of engine at all to accomplish that.

Anyways, I like the Storm Talon, it looks cool sans the gun boxes, though I'd be interested in converting one to be a little bigger and with a gunner in a turret mounted front and bottom instead of all those guns sorta being tacked on as they currently are. Would also seem to be somewhat fashionably in-line with the Storm Raven and Thunderhawk.

Don't much care for the melta-armor special rule, its like the 'crons somehow lost this technology while the SM's found it and bolted it onto all their flyers.

...A blog that's mostly about Infinity, but sometimes other stuff too.
