New Chaos Space Marine models coming soon?

Ok so I read over on Faeit that aparently there are at least 2 new Chaos Space Marine kits ready to be released "soon"

Aparently there is a new Chaos Space Marines/Chosen kit as well as plastic Havocs, that from a prefix associated with the kits suggests they will be released in the 4th week of the month (does not specify which month)

The guy who supposedly saw these new kits in the Warehouse said that the CSM/Chosen kit seems to be an even mixture of the current armour style and the new Daemonic, mutated style and is said to include a platic Autocannon as one of the options. there is not much info on the Havoc kit other than "there are plenty of bits to upgrade your models"

As always, apply salt to taste but given that there will be new stuff released every week now i would expect to see things like this more often considdering the back log of models in serious need of an update/supposedly being worked on (plastic Greater Daemons anyone?)

Just found this on there as well:

Please remember that these are rumors.

via an anonymous source on Faeit 212gw have identified a number of issues with the chaos line with the main 3 being 1. The dated look of a number of models. 2. The hybrid nature of many kits 3. The lack of a generic non God marked lord outside of dark vengeance

There is to be a plastic clampack lord released in suitably ornate armour. The lord is mono posed and comprised of 5 pieces. This model has supposedly been designed as to be easy to kit bash/convert to allow chaos players to use the new updated power armour bits on.

Regarding the chosen. All power weapon variants are in the box with the lance and axe sharing the same body but with a separate head piece. Icons are included as is a number of God specific pads and heads. The kit has an "outrageous" number of head options.

Regarding the havoc. The havoc and new chosen/ standard marine kit share a core sprue containing 5 complete marine's. The havoc then has a number of unique sprues containing weaponry, backpacks and torso options. The havoc also boast an impressive number of heads with many appearing as mk2/3 heads with optical upgrades.
Hope they include World Eater "Trouser" helmets!

While I want to get excited about this rumour (I hate the current CSM models, mostly their legs), I thought we heard this before sometime shortly after the 6th edition book released.

Crossing my fingers though that this time around it's for real. Anything would be a step up from the current kit. And I wouldn't have to farm out bitz from 3rd parties to make autocannon havocs.

I think it was one of the design team (Jes Goodwin?, cant remember.) who said that they where on his to-do list along with Cultists and Hellbrutes BUT they where not the top priority at that time.

Of course its only a rumour and for the moment should be treated as such but to be honest the fact that it doesnt say we are getting new kits for 1K Sons and Noise Marines makes me think that it could actually be true and not just wishlisting.

Feels about the right time for a Chaos splash release. GW having announced a fall in sales, Chaos is one of the big money spinners and troop options is something everyone who already plays chaos has been waiting for.

As well as just a new csm/chosen box, it would be good to see 1k Sons and Noise Marines, maybe even new KB and PM. The issue there is that unless they can combine those very different looking models into 1 or 2 sets, the cost of moulds to sales isn't going to be as good as just a new csm/chosen box. However it would be nice to get an all new csm Havoc set rather than fail cast. Hell, the bikes need some work as well but now I'm getting greedy.

Yeah but its amazing how much difference there can be between dual kit builds these days just because of a few optional extras. It would not be that hard to do for a Dual kit for 1K Sons and Noise Marines because at the moment the ONLY difference between them is the Heads, Weapons, Shoulder Pads and front Torso pieces, apart from that they share the basic CSM parts so for GW it should not be that hard to do especially if they are 5 man kits meaning they could even include an extra pair of robed legs for the Aspiring Sorcerer. PM's and KB's on the other hand are a bit harder as they both have completely unique sculpts... They might have to be 2 seperate 10 man kits with more options.

Update:

some more info:

via an anonymous source on Faeit 212

Time for another info packed message.

The icons are similar in design to the current plastic ones with one icon of each type being included. God specific pieces include a number of shoulder pads bearing a gods Mark and around 4 heads for each God. There is one unhelmeted head for each God excluding tzeentch which I think is meant to be due to the rubric fluff. It looks like you can add the finecast (noise marines and thousand sons) upgrade sprues to each unit to get a roughly full squad of marked marines.

The cultist and hellbrute models have been completed to my limited knowledge however I can't confirm seeing them. Release wise I have been told they are due but not so soon, they are meant to have been held off for another wave release alongside 2 more kits as yet un announced to me. An astute reader can most likely guess what these will be with finecast going the way of the dodo.

Chosen are in the 24 pounds Mark with havoc being similar in price. The lord is alas around the same price as the space marine captain/ librarian.

Oh unit sizes are as follows

Chosen/ chaos space Marines. 10 model box set

Havoc 5 model box set

New Supplement

There is a supplement due for release.
The long war/long crusade
The name itself is a bit of an unknown to me but that's the general gist of it.

Contains fluff on what the legions have been doing for the last 10,000 years.

Rulewise any model with the veteran of the long war rule may purchase additional specialist skills represented by the universal rules. The skills vary in price with fear being one of the cheapest skills. Certain units may not take certain skills I.e havocs may not take fleet.

New Box Sets
I had a much more detailed look at the new kits today. The lord is armed with a bolt pistol and mace\maul\club thingy.

The plastic autocannon on the standard squad sprue is suitable long and dangerous looking. It has the option of being belt or box mag fed. One of the chaos torso is basically a giant mutated demonic face with a piece that glues in in between the torso and legs to represent a big ole mouth.

The chosen/ regular marine kit has 4 sprues. Two core marine sprues that build 5 complete marines each with either bolter of ccw and bolt pistol. It should be noted that not all ccw are chainblades. The arms are the new style wrist and hand on the gun. There's then the command/ chosen sprue which contains power, special, heavy and combi weapons. This sprue also includes torso and head options along with lots of add on pieces. The final sprue contains all your god bits and icons and is smaller than the other sprues
I really hope this is true. im definately getting into a Chaotic mood.I also hope the new CSM/Chosen box IS a 10 man kit as it would at least make it more worth the cost (around the same as the new SM tactical squad)

Again, another minor update regarding the new Supplement book and also the look of the God specific Chosen heads.

The supplement itself is fairly basic in terms of content (its possibly a Dataslate as opposed to a book) basically it lists various units from the codex and then for each unit has a list of USR's it can buy for a SINGLE cost for the WHOLE unit! aparently each unit can take up to 3 upgrades each but not every unit can take each upgrade (Like Havocs cannot have Fleet) HQ's (Not named characters as far as im aware) can take any of the upgrades (so you could have Daemon Princes with Infiltrate and Shred for example) Stubborn is one of the cheapest aparently. Feel No Pain is NOT one of the options. Does not affect marks or icons and is taken in addition to them. Some Walkers can take some of the upgrades. Its also reported that some Vehicles like Hellbrutes, Landraiders, Predators and Rhinos will get access to God Marks but it is unclear as to what effect they will have for vehicles. Unknown release date other than "Soon".

God specific Heads for Chosen sound fairly cool and there are aparently 5 of each in the Chosen kit wich is reported as being a 10 man kit as far as we know (Makes sense if it is a combi with the new generic CSM models, fingers crossed!)

Khorne - Fairly basic horned and spikey helmets.

Tzeentch - Look like Thousand Sons Helmets with one being a bird face mask

Nurgle - A mixture of gas mask helmets with one having an exposed brain.

Slaanesh - one looks a bit like Pinhead from hellraiser while the others are a mixture of stretched skin, extended tongues and speaker grills.

As always take with salt but if this is true then ill take 10!

Am I hearing this right? There's supposed to be 25 heads in the Chosen kit?

Hrmmm.....

Well i would still definitely take it with a pinch of salt but aparently the god specific heads, shoulder pads and icons are all on one frame which is smaller than a normal unit frame, then there is a standard sized frame which has the command options, chosen weapons an Autocannon and other accessories and then 2 frames of 5 CSM's with the Boltguns and other generic parts...supposedly anyway.

Havocs are supposedly one frame of 5 guys with around maybe 2 frames of heavy weapons/ options, but im just guessing on that one.

The newest rumours have made me a bit skeptical. I'm still excited at the prospect, but fortunately have enough else on my plate that it doesn't much matter if it comes or not. We'll see.

Yes i would definately add salt (as its at least 25 heads but will be more like 35 if its a dual kit with regular marines) that being said its...possible as 5 thousand sons heads per kit would almost make the Finecast upgrades obsolete, which we all know is something GW is now trying to do. Again with the Havocs, if they do indeed have an abundance of MKII/ MKIII helmets with bionic eyes then they would be perfect for Iron Warriors + you would already have your heavy weapons.

Also with rumours of a new Starter Set coming this year with a new campaign and a few tweaks to the core rules it would make sense for GW to release all the models from the DV set as propper kits, thus making DV obsolete ready for the new starter.

Anyway sometime "Soon" we shall be seeing something new for Chaos i believe, wether it be entirely accurate to these descriptions or not. How long "soon" actually is though...well if you look at those Forgeworld Myrmidons that have been "Coming Soon" since November...well it could be April/May. Fingers crossed for the end of Feb though.

Had that been rumoured? I'd heard plenty of talk about a new rulebook, and whether it will be 7th edition or 6.1, but I don't recall any mention of a new starter set. I guess if they do release a proper 7th edition it's likely, but I find that far less credible.

Given that the main cost of plastics is in the molds, and GW usually like to hang on to them as long as possible, I assumed we'd still be getting the existing DV set even with a new book. Now, I could be wrong - obviously they have released limited run plastic box sets before - but are there actually rumours of a new starter set?

40k Radio is talking about June for the Chaos kits being released. Though they also mentioned something coming in February.

Just passing along the talk from around the campfire.

#23 ·
That fits actually as i had read somewhere that the Chosen, Havoc and Lord kits where coming in february, along with the new supplement/Dataslate and the new Hellbrute, Cultists and Obliterators where coming "Closer to summer" so that sounds about right.

Either way, same as you said i have plenty of things to be doing in the mean time.

#29 ·
This sounds plausible, afterall we where hearing about Dark Angels vs Cultists for almost a year before it was released.

also this more regular approach to update the core rules is basically what Warmachine and Hordes do at the moment and it works for them.

Crimson Slaughter would be very interesting supplement as it is basically a brand new Warband with brand new fluff. However, I think Red Corsairs, being an older and more established part of the fluff is more likely. Still, I welcome any new Chaos supplement with open arms.

As for the starter set rumours... I am used to being disappointed by GW so I think it must be Orks & Blood Angels. Which isn't exactly a bad combo, but just not awesome beyond belief like Necrons & Black Templars would be.

Please try to keep this thread on the track of Chaos rumours.as much as i want to talk about a new set, I would be neglecting my Moderator duties so we shall discuss the new Starter set a bit more when we have enough info to give it its own thread.
:)

Also, speaking of Chaos, I will be down at Warhammer World in the UK on Saturday (1st of Feb) with my 3000 point Chaos Marines list. I have a table booked (Valley of Skulls) and no one to game with at the moment, as i usually just meet someone while i am there, so if you want to see my ugly mug in person and get a game in, thats where ill be.

Note: I dont play competatively, i just have fun. I am NOT using Stronghold Assault or Escalation rules but you may use them if you want (You will just have to explain how they work) If you do not have 3000 points then i will either cut some units from my list OR allow you to "Duplicate" some of yours (By that i mean, when the unit is removed it goes back into reserves).

Anyway, PM me if you can get, although i am aware that the majority of you on here are not in this country so...just thought i would let you know.

I'm glad they are taking working themselves into full swing on this weekly release method but I think they missed the opportunity to really show improvement by fixing it's rules at the same time.

Nice to see some images. I'm excited for this. Been waiting for that wave 2 release of CSM since rumours popped up about it two years ago. Here's hoping for that updated Chaos Space Marine kit that was mentioned with the Helbrute.

I love my little Helbrute. I'd love to have a proper model for him too, instead of his loyalist count-as.
