Personally I cannot say I like it. The main armament looks okay but the overall look of the model just does not sit well with me.

Yes there is. SW will be getting the new tanks in the Spacemarine codex as well as this flyer.

There are going to be some changes with both Grey Hunters and Blood Claws. Firstly they are going to be cheaper, however Grey Hunters may no longer have bolters, bolt pistols and close combat weapons instead having the option to swap bolter for a close combat weapon instead. This might seem like it is treading on the toes of Blood Claws but Blood Claws have Rage and can be taken in larger groups than Grey Hunters. In addition to this both Grey Hunters and Blood Claws have Pack Leaders now who act as sergeants for the squad, so no need to take Wolf Guard leaders anymore, and the Pack Leaders are able to take ranged and melee weapons from the wargear list.

This part actually bums me out, as gone will be the days that you could have a Terminator Sergeant leading a squad. I really enjoyed that aspect and ran that setup in all my old lists. Now they'll just be a full squad of power armour. Ah well, times do change.

As an aside, Grey Hunters don't sound like much these days beside plain old Tactical Equivalents. I don't see many people running Crusader Squads with CCW's, or Chaos Marines with CCW's and no Bolters. I don't know how much we'll be seeing Grey Hunters doing that.

I have always kind of liked the design of many of the gunships since they looked thoughtful and fully capable of flight. This one looks like it just lacks any stabilizing features - even if they would have made the rear fins a bit bigger it would have helped for me. Of course, with enough thrust you can make a brick fly, but over all I think the detail looks OK.

In fact, that is what I would affectionately call mine, if I were to get one - The Flying Brick Gunship.

#17 ·
I couldn't disagree with you more. It looks more capable of flight than many other space marine aircraft. The front of it looks like it's supported by anti-gravity, evidenced by those metal plates which are the same as on the land speeders. When you consider that the bulk of it levitates, and the boosters on the back push it around, it looks fine.

#13 ·
To me it looks like this:
crossed with a thunder hawk. Or a brick with wings. Not a huge fan of the model, and I'm really not sure how they can justify the fluff on this one, but hey, I suppose it could be good. I just hope it isn't an indestructible brick with wings.

Simply my personal thoughts on the matter.

Hehe, funky rumour reverb. Originally was posted by Little Bird on Warseer, who has a pretty good track record on these things. Most of what is included should be near to spot on.

On that note, glad to see that Grey Hunters are keeping their CCW, though at 16ppm (with such an upgrade), they are going to be running pretty pricey. Second codex (after Chaos Marines) where they priced CCW's at that price point, so at least they are being consistent, and hopefully Wolves won't just turn into Marines+1 again.

Also showing a huge point disparity between Grey Hunters and Blood Claws, as the latter are 75% the cost of the former (if the former had the three weapon loadout).

No mention of a Chariot outside of Grimnar, which seems like the sort of thing that someone should notice, as I don't see the chariot kit being a Grimnar-only thing.

Also, considering the Wolfguard upgrade thing to Grey Hunters and Blood Claws, it seems that gone are the days when you took a Wolf Guard squad and allocated them around as sergeants. Might mean that a full pack of Grey Hunters can get a Sergeant and be put in a Rhino though. It would be nice having the option to have both a sergeant and a second special weapon.

Well im mainly in this release for the models and i must say that im liking what im hearing so far but surely there has to be more new models than just the 3 kits right? Orks got what? 5 boxed kits and 2 Clampacks, so i dont think this is all we will see, or at least i hope not.

maybe an actual Long Fangs kit? (although i highly doubt it would have 4 ML's) and they could even throw in the option for new Hellfrost weapons? anyway perhaps if the rumours are true that the codex is next week along with Bjorn, some of the codex entries still have their old model pictures to avoid giving away the whole release?

Eh, i guess we will see... although what with this being the third 40K release in a row i am starting to doubt that we will be getting that CSM/Nurgle release before Brettonians... if at all...

#23 ·
Leaked pics are up of next weeks pre-orders including 2 different Limited Edition versions of the Codex and the plastic Venerable/Bjorn/Murderfang kit (which is £33) and does indeed have a large Axe and Stormshield for the Venerable and it also has a Wolf skull for a head.

Logan Grimnar riding into battle from the back of a floating chariot pulled by two slavering Thunderwolves, smiting his enemies with the Axe of Morkai whilst his Great Company follow him into battle.

It certainly creates an impression that he is a true Lord of War. Not bad for a 320 point model.

I'm actually really liking the pose on the Axe/Shield Dread. A bit jealous of that one. Mostly, I'm a big fan of how they rotated the right arm out, instead of always having the dread arms stuck up against the body.

#29 ·
What are they getting wrong? The chariot is the only thing that I've seen that really pushes boundaries from a "comfortable" design, and even that is still "cool" in it's own weird way.

Really, I consider the Space Wolf release to be one of their better releases, at least model-wise.

#34 ·
It would look brilliant as a Fantasy model. As a 40k model it just seems silly in a universe that contains Landspeeders and the like. I don't like the Dreadnaught holding an axe, it would look better if the axe was hard-wired, rather than held. The same thing annoyed me with the recent Treeman release - it shouldn't be holding a weapon, the weapon should be part of it!

... I think I have issues.
