I was browsing the U.S. online GW store, and I noticed in the Orc and Gobbo section that the giant was listed in the Special Unit section instead of the Rare section. Think this is a web error or do you think they're giving the greenskins a "bonus" to their giant since a lot of the armies are going to be able to field them now as rares?
Probably just an error on their part. As far as I am aware giants are still a rare choice for all armies that are allowed to take them.
(Chaos/Orcs and Goblins/Ogre Kingdoms/Dogs of War)
I completely agree with you Revlid.
What's the point for O&G to have a giant, if most other armies can have one too?
I was fine when ogres or chaos got theirs, but Empire or Dark Elves?? :realmad:
Oh well, given what it cost GW to produce, I imagine they want to sell craploads of them, and so make thm (too) easily accessible
Mind you at least with Dark Elves you can say it is a slave of the beastmasters of Karrond Kar. Just make it look suitably abused using the slave giant head.
Still an attempt to disguise cheese with fluff
I don't want to be mean to anyone, but am pretty bummed that my O&G have totally lost exclusivity on the Giant? Do I ask for BS4 repetition bolt throwers to compensate weaknesses of my army?
I've always fond mercenary units a bad wayto address weaknesses in an army. It was somewhat compensated in the current ed. of WFB, since they tend to be les interesting than many rare slots. However, in the case of the giant, it would have been a rare slot anyway! Make it a rare+special, or 2 rares, and it'd be quite ok, and must I add, quite fluffy, a Giants typically don't roam around Nagarroth or the Empire the way they do in the world's edge mountains
I'm not too keen on the multiple armies having their own giants either, but if they are for sure allowing them, then I'd be more inclined for O&G to have theirs as special instead of rare at least.
I thoroughly agree with you, but it is likely going to happen for a lot of armies <_< .
To be honest 2 rare choices sounds about right.
I'm failing to see how taking a Giant with Dark Elves can be cheesy, if anything a Giant is more vulnerable than the War Hydra.
This thread better not slide into army bashing or it'll have to be locked.
Being still fairly new around here, I'm guessing there are quite a few army bashing threads to warrant a lock warning? Just curious because the dark elf player seemed to feel that he just didn't need giants in his army.Originally Posted by Dark Lioness
