I've decided that I really like Eldar and I'd like to run a kill-team using them. It would be a nice diversion from SM. But I know that they are coming out with new codexes(sp) and models somewhere between 6 months and a year from now.
First of all, are they just redoing the basic eldar codex or are they doing both the basic one and the craftworld eldar codex? Will they be combining them together or revamping them both simultaneously?
Secondly, are there any models that we know will be staying the same? I don't want to buy current models when they will be coming out with better ones in 6 months time. I heard that the guardians are staying the same, but what about some of the elite choices?
I know probably no one has any definite answers, but I've heard alot of people speaking with pseudo authority concerning future new stuff . . . so . . .
. . . any help would be great . . .
There have been no rumours or confirmations about any unit leaving the game save the wild rider chief (IIRC). A good thing to do might be to head on over to the Eldar forum and read up on the various army strat sections we have going on.
Also, I can't remember if it was confirmed or not, but rumors HAVE been circulating that DE, Eldar, and Craftworld Expansion rules might be sharing a book, but there is still a lot of schepticism (sp) about it.
I've seen a man roll 26 ones in a single handfull of dice, and Tycho die 49 consecutive times in 60 games. I've had a wolf lord never die (106 games) and a war walker kill a Force Commander AFTER its gotten both weapons destroyed. I've lived a full gaming life.
Well, as to the idea of GW doing 2 codexes simultaneously, I doubt it. I haven't got any insider information but as far as I know, there has been no evidence to suggest that two codexes will be produced and it makes very little business sense to GW. I would expect them to redo the craftworlds as some like saim hann are pretty much broken, but bundle it with the vanilla codex. These will by all accounts appear roughly in november this year.
Guardians probably will stay the same, but as to anything else, we know that rangers, war walkers and platforms are changing too. I hope that new aspect warriors are in the works, preferably in plastic, but I think there are too many different aspects for that. At the moment, i'm hanging fire on buying models and have decided to wait until the new ones of whatever come out. I trust the design team because I have seen and loved the new rangers and I reckon they'll do a job worth waiting for.
Note: I have no authority so it can't be pseudo =)
Eldrad is the greatest among us, he is the sun which eclipses the light of our stars.
He is Ulthwe.
Forelli's gonna get ya!
Not just skepticism, it's been flat out denied by Games Workshop Presenters at the 40K seminar at Games Days. There will be NO combining of codicies. End of story. People should stop saying it. We will get plastic Zoats with Squat Riders in Codex: Red Corsairs before we get DE and Craftworld Eldar in the same Codex. Am I clear?Originally Posted by AgentMage2012
The Codex Specific rules might be in there, as there's been a pretty strong rumor for a long time that Ulthwe Seer Councils will be limited in size to 5 models. If they are in, then its been also very strongly suggested that they will not be expanded beyond the current rules. There will be no Craftworld "traits"system.
As for what models might stay the same, rumor has it that the Striking Scorpions, Dark Reapers, and perhaps Howling Banshees will get new metal models. Dire Avengers will get new plastics. Other aspects will presumably not change, so they would be a safe purchase. Guardians may not change much, I don't know. I suspect since the new Guardians that accompany the new plastic heavy weapon platform have a similar look to the Guardian line, if they get any change at all it will just be a sprue re-cut or something.
Its certain that the following will change (model-wise):
Heavy Weapons platform
Personally, I'm hoping that the Jetbike models change, but I've heard no word on that score.
They should go back to the look of the original dark reapers, i hate the last edition ones ( i have no idea why i just do)
would be nice if Harlequins got brought back into the main eldar lists in some way, with new models

There is very little chance IMO of the harlequins being included, that said it could be done.
I just think GW came up with some basic rules for the harlies, published them and left 'em to rot since they are miles away from being viable.
What about Exodites?
Tau - Knights of the Frozen Wastes
Necrons - The Phalanx of Gleaming Death
CSM - Iron Warriors

From what I've heard, Harlies are being left where they are. As a fun little thing for people who want to convert a lot to do. I like Harlies as much as the next Harlie player, but I think it's best that way...though a few more solid rules would be nice.

Actually, I've heard an extremely reliable source say (well, hint as heavily as can be possible without outright saying) that Harlies will be in the Codex, and will presumably get new models.
Exodites however, are probably not going to be in there.
I think (or at least hope) that all of the content from Codex: Craftworld Eldar will be included in the new Codex: Eldar (with some possible ammendments to the craftworlds, and hopefully a new one!). I would also like to see Harlequins in there with their army list as already published, but properly bound for once! - although I do currently use Harlequins in my CWE army as elites (as per the chapter approved rules on the GW website - I've been told /repeatedly/ by staff at my local GW that they're legal and usable as-is).
I personally would not like to see Codex: Dark Eldar included along with the rest, and as has been stated I doubt they will be. The armies are distinct, both fluff-wise, model-wise, and the units are not interchangeable between army lists (unlike the CWE and Harlequins, or Harlequins and DE).
If all were combined, you'd be looking at a monster tome of a codex, in any case.
