Dire Avengers and Guardians
Dire Avengers are indeed being pushed as the mainstay Eldar unit. From now on when you think "basic" troop in the Eldar army you're supposed to think if the Dire Avenger, not the Guardian anymore.
Think of it this way.
Space Marine is to Scout as Fire Warrior is to Kroot,
Fire Warrior is to Kroot as Slugga Boy is to Grot,
Slugga Boy is to Grot as Imperial Guardsman is to Conscript,
Imperial Guardsman is to Conscript as Dire Avenger is to Guardian...got it now?
Rumored that the 1+ Dire Avengers and the 0-2 Guardians may be true. Some of you might say "but they're releasing a new weapon platform!" Yes, because possibly you'll be able to put two in each squad making a max of 4. Guardian Squads are changing to a minimum of 10 models and a possible max of 16. This will reflect thier "support" nature for the Aspect Warriors doing all the fighting at the front. The 10-16 models does not include the two from each weapon platform and the possible Warlock. This makes sense as adding two weapons to a 16-man squad makes 20 plus a warlock for 21. Remember, Rangers are still a Troops choice too, plus the Wraithguard and Jetbike rumor. We won't be starved for TROOPS choices.
The Autarch will be able to take a limited selection of gear from different aspects, but he'll still focus on a particular one. Whichever one you choose to model him after, that Aspect is now a TROOPS choice. Sorry, I was told that the Dark Reaper, Warpspider, and Swooping Hawk aspects could not be done this way though the Autarch can use some of the equipment from those Aspects. So it seems that Howling Banshees, Striking Scorpions, and Fire Dragons are the most common of the least common Aspects.
Fire Dragons are getting back thier S8 melta weapons
Farseers and Warlocks
Warlocks will come standard with a Shuriken Pistol and close-combat weapon. They may purchase a powerweapon, Witchblade, or Singing Spear (I have since heard a rumour that they might even be able to take executioners which will be nasty if true. JvK).
Farseers will be purchased without weapons but will come with Spirit Stones, Ghosthelm, Runes of Witnessing and their new anti-psycher ablilty I talked about in my last rumor thread. Weapons will have to be bought for him and he still must take at least one power, you might as well take two since he can cast two in one turn anyway.
Witchblades and Singing Spears possibly becoming "powerweapons" along with thier "special" ability. We may see them increase in points.

Basically life sucks, there is only war and you're probably gonna get eaten by Tyranids, have fun.

To bad that the Swooping Hawks can't be troops, would be cool with a Hawk-army.
Power weapons that wound on a 2+ and are strength 9 vs vehicles just seem wrong to me, if they are that good they must cost a ton of points each.
The man of tomorrow is judged by his battle today.
Maybe it means they are a power weapon against troops and are str 3x against vehicles. So trading wound on a 2+ for power weapon. This makes more sence than the current I can tear through a predator but not power armour situation we have now.
Fire Dragons with str8 guns wont be any better against MEQs but much better against vehicles. I suppose the Dragon exarch will give his squad tank-hunters, since its a universal rule, and rumour says exarch powers expand to squad. Thats a jump from S6 to S9. I'd call cheese if it wasnt for the fact that Havocs can get 4 plasma guns and tank-hunter (so 8 str8 shots). So this might just be OK balance wise. Dragons should rock Anti Tank anyway.
To be honest I've heard too many rumours now and am a bit confused/sick of it.
Keep posting them if you get them though. May as well have something good to read as I wallow in disgust.
Wow I love the idea of the Autarch and making an aspect a troop choice. I see my wife, who plays Eldar, taking a bunch of banshees. She loves using those things.
So the farsear comes with all that wargear automatically? I'm assuming his point cost will go up then. Man there are going to be lots of eldar armies with lots of troops in them. To bad they got rid of old comp rules at RTT
sounds alright, if they dont take the range for catapults to 18" ill cry, since the new rapid fire rules, catapults are just a joke, if they dont change that as the first thing they do then their crazy,
2 platforms per squad sounds quality tho

wtf...? Ignore this...
thats a nightmare in my world , they had better go with the 2 grav platforms per squad then or guardians will still be utterly useless, christ i thought that was a common complaint that would be first on their list to correct.Originally Posted by Da Mighty Camel
maybe i can convert my current guardians into dire avengers, grrrrr :realmad:

I do feel that putting things back the way it was (Dire Avengers to the fore), is the right way to go. I do understand some of the frustration, I have about 70 defenders and a dozen storm. However I have loved Eldar for about 12 years because of the cool fluff.
Its only right that the fluff and the Army List match up again. Because at the moment their nothing like each other.
