Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hi Guys, after speaking to GW the other day I have these rumours which I feel dutybound to pass on.
1) Plastic Swordmasters will be made but may not come out with the codex, instead being staggered for a few months as the Black Orcs were for O&G.
2) Archers will be able to fire in 2 ranks again
3) Plastic Dragon Princes are confirmed, and there is a rumour flying around GW that you will get a rare choice of Dragon Riders on real mini dragons, i guess a little bit like Dragon Ogres but way cooler
4) This is a new rule my GW friends told me the other day. It is not a confirmed rule yet but its is what he has heard: All, yes all, High Elves will strike first, all of them! That would be a pritty far reaching change, but one does feel that High Elves do need some pritty far reaching changes to bring them in line with other fantasy armies.
Hope this helps!
Thanks for the rumors and the sources.
They sound a bit extreme, especially the "always strike 1st", but you never know.
"Politics is the womb in which war develops"
Well I have to say that was my reaction aswell, still you never know!
i don't play HE, but i can't wait to see some dragon riders oh man!
I'm starting to give some thought to a second WFB army, and while I'm not so sure about having 2 elf armies, I've always thought the High Elves were very cool. Really the only reason they took a back seat to Wood Elves to me was their figures.
If they get rid of the flowing locks and ridiculous poofy sleeves, the High Elves may get some love from me yet. Dragon riders will help. I got lots o' love for dragons.
For most people it's the tall-as-the-model-pointy-helmets that put them off...not the hair!
Personally I quite like the models, so if they're improved that's good, if they're not I don't mind because I already like the current ones I've got.
As for Dragon riders...well...
There were rumours going around that HE would get a powerful plying cavalry unit of Drake Riders, basically smaller (younger?) dragons. Other rumours went around that this would not happen because GW didn't want to risk creating another "Flying Circus" army.
The latest rumours suggest that drakes will be in, but as a mount for Heroes rather than as a unit. When they were discussing this on Warseer, someone suggested that Drakes for Heroes might make Griffons obsolete and that they might not even appear any more, but then Adam Troke himself popped up and said that the Griffons were definately staying. I can't remember what thread that was or where in the thread otherwise I would quote it.
Oh well, there's some more points for discussion.
Thou shalt remember:
Warhammer Fantasy armies do NOT have Codices. They have Army Books.

The particular rules behind the dragon princes are of only minimal concern to me. They could have the same stats as horses for all I care, I just think they would look spectacular on the table. I'd also like to see some new shadow warriors, but that's mostly because I'd like to see the coolness of their figures match up with the coolness of their fluff.
I was already kind of interested in High Elves, so if the figures are remotely cool, there's a really good chance I'll end up getting the army.

Oh yay. I don't even play fantasy and that’s the best news I've heard in ages.
I was going to buy cold ones and put wings on them for an Eldar conversion, and I was going to buy High Elves to use as well, now I don't have to make my own crummy dragons and the models will look better, and not be covered in spikes and look nothing like how I want them too.
If you call it a Missile launcher, then it'll never hit anything.
100% of people who aren't Karmoon know Saraneth is invincible.
