Welcome to Librarium Online!
I've been hearing alot about it here, but nowhere else.
There is supposed to be ANOTHER Space marine Redux? They are going to be trashing the SM codex and Army List like they did the DA? PLEASE tell me this isn't going to Happen. If for no other reason than THEY STILL HAVEN'T REVISITED THE ORKS!
90 Percent of the Feedback that I've heard about Combat Squads and No Armory is Bad. 90 Percent GW has heard is bad. And 5% of the GOOD 10% is from NON Space marine players.
Man if this is the case, I'm done. 8 Price Hikes int hree years and now this?
PLEASE don't do this GW.

It's an economic matter. They think the current SM codex is bad. By far the greatest majority of their fanbase are Space Marine players. Therefore, their design team reasons that if they improve the SM codex, their fanbase will be pleased.
Which naturally sidelines the 8% of players who play Orks, and the .02% who play Dark Eldar. Although I hear the real reason is that the Ork codex was delayed because of problems with one of the plastic sprues or somesuch, so they pushed it to 2008, after the Chaos redux, which comes with a plastic Lord box (something I, as an avid converter, am actually looking forward to) and plastic Terminators.
There's also some stuff that the new guys in charge thought the 4th edition codex didn't "introduce" enough players to Space Marines, which can be interpreted in two ways: that they didn't get enough new people playing Space Marines, or that the people playing Space Marines didn't know enough about Space Marines because the codex was insufficient in explaining their background. I've always maintained that it was GW's fervent pushing of the 4th edition codex and the Battle for Macragge set on any new preteen players that gave that particular codex its reputation for noobishness, but I guess their policy changes constantly as they put different people in charge of Creative Design.
Plus, they rarely, if ever, listen to their fanbase, so all the hurrah-hurrah we can muster matters zilch.

Mr_Wayne: "Some people believe that the World Eaters do not field any ranged weaponry. Those people often die at a distance."
Yep. That pretty much sums it up.
Also they seem to think combat squads alone are worth re-doing a codex.
If you call it a Missile launcher, then it'll never hit anything.
100% of people who aren't Karmoon know Saraneth is invincible.
... I'd disagree with the OP, here. I *started* SM after hearing redux rumours. Space Marines? No longer an army geared to allow irritating 12 year olds a gateway into tabletop gaming? Can it be true? We can only pray!!
Drag queen of LO... HAETRS GONNA HAET!
Savlar (6k), Executioners (full company!), Farsight (500 points), Warriors of Chaos (6k), Dark Elves Cult Of Pleasure (4k), Nomads/Caledonians/ISS (infinity), Clan Wolf (BT)
who cares what the annoying kid plays? don't play 'em if he's an ass
I don't get that. Space marines are a pretty cool army, you can add a lot of flavour and look into the models, you can take almost any historical theme and include it in your army (apart from pirates, that might be a bit... odd...).
I'm sure i'll start a SM-army one day, hell, i already got 500pts of SW!
And i'm closing in on 23, that would make me almost twice as old as said 12 year old.
"the definition of Us comes from the exclution of Them"
All this bitching on younger players is just a way to feel better about oneself, it's hardly like your saying this about the codex because you want to enlighten them to your own army, to make them see the light of tyranids! (or orks, eldar or whatever).
+ they're young so can hardly defend themselves.
i've only been playing for 3 years, but if i was in this hobby since i was 12 i'm sure i would have started with SM. Not because it's a bad, cheesy or broken army but because it has things that appeal to younger players: it has cool, brightly colored, heavily armoured, uber-kickass soldiers of DOOM!
-->wow, quite the rant!
Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.

wow. just wow.
the marine codex is bad? you've got to be kidding me. then again, the type of people marine appeal to are bratty little kids who complain regardless of anything.
those kids are ruining the hobby, just like they are video games.
