Just been up to the official Games Workshop site to try to find the Tau Landing Gear Codex update...

According to the home page there, the new Edition of the 40K Rulebook will be coming out later this very year. Apparently, because its gonna be a rules upgrade rather than a complete new system:

• This is a rules refinement not a complete overhaul
• Your Codex does not become obsolete
• With army lists not changing, your army is sound and will not need changing
Apparently the key refinements to the existing rules are those that affect the Assault phase and the rules for vehicles.

So now we know...

Ryan Dancey, Vice President of Wizards of the Coast, believed that TSR failed because of "...a near total inability to listen to its customers, hear what they were saying, and make changes to make those customers happy." Are you listening, Games Workshop ?

I thought i posted this earlier, in a differnt topic. Any ways yes its going to be more like version 3 1/2 instead of 4. Its basically refining version 3. Plus it wouldnt make any sense to completely redue the rule book if they are just coming out with which hunters.

Yeah, I think a lot of people are going to be grateful that its a revision not a rewrite. Games Workshop must have realised that a radical change would have annoyed enough 3rd Ed veterans to make some of'em actually abandon the hobby rather than have to learn yet another set of rules.

So will this new rule book refinement thingy include all the chapter approveds and the faq answers etc? Thank god its a refinement, i would be so if i had to learn a new set of rules, i fink the current system works fine the way it is, but some revision and refinements wouldnt be missed, it means I wont have to buy loads of chapter approved etc I could just buy the new ruke book, brilliant!

thats a good idea, putting all the old FAQ into the book, along with all the chapter app, but they probz wont because then they wont be able to sell the seperate books.

I guess, as most of the FAQs are to try and interpret the 3rd Edition rules, they will just rewrite the same rules using clearer language, so to close the interpretation loopholes and not to provoke the same FAQs again!

The Chapter Approved articles and books often introduce new ideas and new units/sub-units. No reason why they can't go on.
