He has been speaking to a Black Shirt who already has a copy of the Codex. Daemon weapons are there as mentioned with the same stats all the way around for a basic one, but there ARE god weapons. Khorne weapon becomes +2D6 hits, the Nurgle one always wounds on a 4+, the Tzeentch weapon is a S4 or 5, AP3 storm bolter or similar (wasn't super clear on this one but basically said it was a better Kai gun), and the Slaanesh one causes instant death regardless of wounds (he thought this applied to Nids as well). They are also counted as 2 handed weapons.

Well now, this is VERY interesting... I don't suppose the two-handed rule matters very much as you get d6 attacks anyway, although this does mean that you won't ever get a fixed amount of attacks except on the charge or for having Daemonic Mutation (if it is still in the codex). It's a trade-off, really - do you pick all the uber-cool powers of a Daemon Weapon and not necessarily get your full complement of attacks or do you just go with the standard Power Weapon and Bolt Pistol and get a guaranteed 6 attacks on the charge? Except for Khorne. Khorne is a no-brainer. The Nurgle one is very fluffy, as is the Tzeentch one, but the Slaanesh one is brutal! So, the Emperor's Children get anathemes now! Wahey! :p On the other hand, I'm going to wait and see how many points they cost. They might not necessarily be worth it if you're going to be economical and they cost more points than a Dreadaxe (that IS the most expensive of the generic daemon weapons, right?) Edit: Yes, I know that instant death is not that great against standard models but think of the possibilities! Besides which it slays my Rubric Marines in one hit Some Marines have all the luck.

I'm still in a brain fuddles equivilent to sugar rush over the release dates. And now this about demon weapons! But surley if the slannesh demon weapon does that, there is no need for sorcerers really?

As far as daemon weapons go, as NigteRabit mentioned in an aerlier post (I believe), their effectiveness really depends on cost as well. As it stands, based strictly upon mechanics, the Khorne daemon weapon is probably the best. The Nurgle & Slaanesh are a little too conditional for my taste, especially Nurgle's, which is only at its best against monstrous creatures. The Slaanesh one, on the other hand, is good against monstrous creatures and H.Q's. Still not sure about Tzeentch though.

Well, my biggest beef with the new 'Dex was the removal of a proper shooty kind of Lord. If that rumour is to be believed (and Wraithlord seems credible enough), then I'm glad to see that you can still include a nice shooting attack. Assuming the Daemon Weapon gets to keep it's other properties, that means you can have a shooty lord that also rocks as a close combat monster. That simply amazes me. The Nurgle daemon weapon seems rather weak to me. The daemon weapon makes him S5 already, and there's probably going to be a +1 strength option, so that means only on T7 or higher models will the ability be useful. How many of those can you think of, and how many would you want your Lord being in close combat with? The Slaaneshi one is nice, good for taking out those models that Nurgle only wishes it could. There's probably a qualifier to it, like needing to fail a LD test, or only +1 attack that round, or something silly. As for Khorne... well, it has the possibilty of being either the best Daemon Weapon avaliable, what with its +7 average attacks, possible +12 (gods, that's frightening...), or is has the possibility of beint the worst of the lot. Remember that with the new Daemon Weapons, rolling a 1 on your +attacks roll means you can't attack that turn. Nobody has mentioned that in conjunction with the extra die - do both have to roll a 1? Or just one of the two? If it's both of the dice must come up snake eyes, the weapon will be godly. You'd be stupid not to take a Khornate Lord. If it's either/or die, then the weapon will be shunned by most players. 11 unique dice rolls out of 36 possible results means that each round you have a 30% chance of your Khorne Lord doing nothing.
